Proseries should include form 1118 foreign tax paid for corporations doing business outside USA where withholding taxes are paid. Lancerte has that form , but I am not willing to use Lancerte when Proseries should support that form.
When taxpayers receive documents that were not included in their original filling, TT could design a button on their post file page that will allow the customer to set a reminder for 4 weeks time to come back and begin the amendment process. It would allow the convenience of keeping them compliant and keeping full service customers in contact for possible future products as well. And it would be a great selling point for DIYers that want to pay a couple dollars more to have the amendment reminder.
There are two issues with the 1098 import - one is a minor annoyance - the other is seriousSERIOUSOn at least two returns where I expect the client to get a refund... they owed. Digging around I found an amount I never entered in "Other income." When you click the plus sign you see this: That throws everything off big time. Please fix.ANNOYING BEHAVIORWhen it works the mortgage import uses the description: "Please provide your mortgage interest statement for personal mortgage interest." This should simply mention the lender's name. It's very confusing when there are two loans.
It boggles my mind that Proseries does not yet handle the 80% limitation on Net Operating Loss Carryovers for the 2025 tax year. Drake software handles this, Tax Slayer handles this, yet Proseries refuses to get on board with this tax law provision that was passed years ago. Come On!!! Step Up Proseries and handle this, along with the Business Loss Limitations as well. I have spent hours reading on how to calculate the 80% limitation because Proseries doesn't even tell me this, then how to I enter the limitation in Proseries? Cannot override or I cannot efile. Proseries costs me $8k plus a year, and doesn't help me in March/April when I really need it. I am so tired of Proseries being THE LAGGUARD tax software out there.
There does not seem to be a way to link a PDF attachment to e-file to a specific line that the attachment is referencing on the form itself. The program does this automatically for statements it creates (for example, when Other Expenses is populated on line 21 of Form 8829) but a user cannot have a "Statement X" (x being chronological numbering) be added to the form or schedule on the specific line to which the statement relates. Please add this feature into the "e-file PDF/Miscellaneous" section of the Inputs. A field like "Line Number to put Statement Reference" would be helpful, after you tell the program which form or schedule you want the statement to reference. Then it'll chronologically put the statement reference on the actual form/schedule based on where that page sits int the overall return
Indiana enacted a requirement for C-Corporation with over $1 million in gross receipts to file the IT-20 electronically. ProSeries does not currently support this and the Indiana Department of Revenue has just penalized my client of $1,500 for mailing in the 2024 tax return.I have been using ProSeries for over 30 years and I love it, but if I can't e-file this return in Indiana my client will be extremely upset and I will absolutely have to explore other options. Please, for the love of God, add Indiana Corporations to your list of supported e-file products! I can't be the only user with this problem.
Amended Idaho partnership and S-corporations are not supported for electronic filing. Please provide support for electronic filing of these amended returns. Amended individual returns became available for e-filing a couple years ago.
Years ago in the BASIC program we have that.1. A Summary on the left hand side that shows the tax refunds or amount owed to Federal and State.2. Can we have a back < key to go back to the previous form or previous page of a form while we are completing. Again that back < key was in the BASIC version.ThanksLP FACTS
