Enhancement Request: Confirm Bank Details Before Submission

I would like to suggest adding a confirmation step for bank routing and account numbers when entering direct deposit or debit information.

Currently, ProSeries only allows a single entry, which increases the risk of errors. With the IRS no longer issuing paper checks for incorrect banking details, even a small mistake can result in refunds being sent to the wrong account.

I recommend requiring users to enter the routing and account numbers twice and validating that both entries match before proceeding. This simple safeguard is already implemented in other tax software and would greatly improve accuracy and user confidence.

… not going to help where TP transposes or gives wrong incomplete info… the software has a verification check box to confirm account info… re-entering the same wrong numbers does nothing but create more data entry… I double and triple check all new banking info and confirm with client before filing
I vote No.

Probably my favorite feature with Drake Software is that it produces a bank account confirmation page with signature lines for taxpayer and spouse.  I tell them "this is the most important number on your tax return."

Also, new for this year they created a form for "we told you the IRS doesn't like to send checks but since you insisted on withholding your bank info your refund will be delayed" w/signature block.  Not sure how much I care about this one but it's a nice CYA.

Rick, no problem getting bank info this year… even from most resistant… just told them paper check may take ups to 6 months to get to them (if it doesn’t get lost in the mail)…. I’ll be in your neighborhood in mid June if you’re around
