I was wondering why Lacerte does not have an input module similar to individuals or Fiduciaries to enter 1099-Conso for dividends and interest instead of using screen 22 - Other schedule K items. Having the input like individuals and trust makes it more organized year after year, keeping the names of each 1099 entered so we can easily locate which one is missing. To any developers why can't this be done?Would really help us keep things organized.
. Vouchers can be printed out but not the initial IR-PV showing the calculation for estimated taxes.
Be able to reorganize the way the statuses show in ProConnect under "By Return Status".
I wish there was visibility to show how many intuit links have been sent to clients so we can better track all invitations.
Please patch a critical error that is currently preventing a government entity from e-filing the 2023 Form 990-T for elective pay only. In the top section of Form 990-T, Section G "Check Organization Type", we need to be able to check "6417(d)(1)(A) Applicable entity." However, ProConnect Tax is currently suppressing the Form 990-T unless one of the other inapplicable organization types on the first row is checked. Therefore, we can't e-file the 2023 Form 990-T for elective pay in accordance with the 2023 Form 990-T instructions.Additionally, there are 3 e-file diagnostics that should be addressed. According to ProConnect Support, I understand that these will not currently prevent the e-filing of the 990-T. We plan to click the "ignore" button. Nonetheless, they should be cleared up in accordance with the 990-T instructions.1) #57613: It requests input of a pass-through entity EIN on Form 3800, Part III, column (d). However, this is not required for an Applicable Entity who only needs to list an Elective Payment registration number in column (b).2) #58582: It requests input of an activity code on the Schedule A Unrelated Business Taxable Income From an Unrelated Trade or Business. However, this is not required for an Applicable Entity filing for elective pay only. The Schedule A should be suppressed.3) #58632: It requests input of an "Exempt under section" in Form 990-T Section B. However, this is not required for an Applicable Entity filing for elective pay only. That section should be left blank. For reference, here are pertinent sections of the 2023 Form 990-T Instructions from IRS.gov:990-T Instructions p1:Tax-exempt and governmental entities. For tax years beginning after 2022, applicable entities (such as certain tax-exempt and governmental entities) can elect to treat certain general business credits as a payment of income tax. See Applicable Entity Making an Elective Payment Election on IRA 2022 Credits, later.Section 6417(d)(1)(A) applicable entity. Form 990-T, Item G has been updated with a checkbox for applicable entities that are not normally required to file an annual tax return and are filing Form 990-T to make an elective payment election under section 6417.990-T Instructions p3:Elective payment election only. Organizations filing with regard to making an elective payment election and have no unrelated business taxable income, including applicable entities (as defined earlier) not subject to federal income tax and not otherwise required to file any annual tax or information return, must complete the following lines of Form 990-T.The heading area above Part I, except items B, C, E, J, K, and L.Part II, lines 3 and 7 (enter -0-).Part III, lines 6g, 7, 10, and 11.Signature area.In addition, complete and attach Form 3800, and all forms required to compute each applicable credit.
Lacerte, PLEASE correct the programing for Federal Balance Due Dates within letters. While we can manually correct on the Client Letter that accompanies the tax return, this is a real time and accuracy issue. However, we cannot correct the date that prints on the acceptance letters and so these letters are showing an incorrect withdrawal date of April 15, 2025 no matter what date the withdrawal was set to draft.Historically, when a Federal Balance Due date was entered for the payment of a Federal liability, the program would carry the information from the data entry field to the Client Tax letters AND the Acceptance letters would also reflect the correct withdrawal date. For the 2024 tax program, this is no longer true. The dates for State withdrawals are correct, but not the Federal withdrawals.
It would be a real time saver and make for more professional and customizable letters if we had a way to PRINT the Letter Navigation details to so that we could quickly get back into the different sections and subsections of the letters when we are updating or correcting. If is very time consuming and frustrating to have to constantly go back and forth with no printable guideline. The same goes for the Keywords. Allow us to have access to a PDF of both. Tax letters would be much easier to update as needed.
I live in an area where there is a higher than normal elderly population. Id love to see a button added or something as to how it can easily swap the taxpayer and spouse when one passes (even MFS when it occurs) to allow a more efficient tax return. as of now, its a mess to do and haven't found an easy way.
The Client Snapshot view should provide information on any federal or state refund / amount due. Currently, the Snapshot only provides the federal and primary state information. If additional states are part of the return, provide the status of those states as well.
I use two step authentication to log into Lacerte. The initial phase of receiving a code is hit or miss. Sometimes I receive a code on the first try. Sometimes it can take up to six or seven tries before I receive a code. This is time consuming during tax season. I've had instances where I've had to go back five or six years and reopen those years' apps. If I have to make more than two or three attempts for each year, it is frustrating. This year's enhancement that allows us to open two consecutive years using only one login has been a significant improvement. Keep going in that direction and enhance the stability of the authentication process.
When I reviewed the digital on-line organizer available with Intuit Link - there was a Checklist generated. It would list W2's and each employer from last year, Interest/Dividends and then each bank, etc... I do not see that available in the paper format.Having a checklist as a print option would be most helpful, especially for the older clientele. Most people give me feedback about the paper organizer that, "If I could figure these grids, out, Id do my own taxes" Can Lacerte please put in an option to print a checklist for such items as it has in the Link version?
Pennsylvania does not allow federal per-diem rates for meal deductions on their Schedule C. Details are located on Page 28 of the PA-40 instructions, under Other Business Travel Expenses. Instead, PA allows 100% of actual meal expenses. ProConnect does not have a box to enter the different number, like it does for the Car & Truck Expenses or Vehicles (under Rent) adjustments. It would be nice for ProConnect to add a line item for actual meal expenses on Schedule C under the Pennsylvania Adjustments section of the Federal Sch C input screen (under State & Local). For this client, the actual meal expenses were higher than the federal deduction and I was able to add the difference under "Entertainment expenses in full". However, this cell will not accept a negative number and that'll be a problem when I have a client who spent less on meals than the federal deduction using per diem calculations.
We have had nothing but problems with Lacerte 2024 program all year long, pdf's fail to print, problems with auto update, programming locking up, etc. I am a 25 plus year user of Lacerte and have wasted at least 40 hours of our time dealing with these problems. Why can't Lacerte get the 2024 program to work correctly? I am going to ask for a substantial credit when our renewal comes up and if I don't get it, I will look elsewhere for software. The problems we are having are un explainable.
