Pretty frustrated right now with how this tax software handles access to past returns.I’m not renewing my subscription, and because of that they’re saying they cannot provide or discount access to my 2024 filed returns. These are returns I already paid to have prepared and filed. The only reason I can’t access them is because I won’t renew for another year of service I don’t need. That feels less like “subscription management” and more like holding my own records behind a paywall.I fully understand losing access to the platform and its features. That part is fair. But my filed tax returns are my business records. Blocking access to them unless I renew is wild.Support basically told me:No renewal = no accessNo discountNo copies of my 2024 returnsDebating whether or not to call Amex and have them charge this back - I paid for a filing service, not a hostage situation. If this is how they treat customers who choose not to renew, it's a massive red flag. Incredible that there is no way to retrieve already-filed returns without being forced into another subscription cyle.
Lacerte needs to update the address for estimated tax checks before people start filing returns. Not all taxpayers are going to allow for a direct debit or pay online. The address was updated last year, yet Lacerte is still showing the old address.
Change to the 2 Year Comparison Tax Summary - the Sch 1-A deductions should appear and flow Change, Ease of Usethrough on this document.
Even a temporary contract position, might correct the error in the MA form 1 entry, line 14a, that's been there for several years now. 14a. "Enter the total qualified rend paid...."Okay, so this line doesn't show on the printed tax form, just line 14 ("Rental deduction"). Still, after letting several years go by without fixing this, not a compliment for ProSeries' priority for accuracy on the user-side?Now if I wanted to quibble further, I'd wonder why 'Short-term' is inconsistently capitalized in line 7 for the smart worksheet for line 16, or on D-IS worksheet, what a "throug" ....and "Massachusetts-based star-up corporation" mean. But these are smart worksheets, maybe they just ran out of letters.
Proseries is asking to us to input Nebraska receipts when filing a 1065 where these is only rental income, we get to error messages to input Nebraska receipts. When we enter Nebraska receipts we get an error message that we need to check the multi state box. Its not a multi state LLC. If we put 1 dollar of ordinary income the message goes away.
Please make it under the print options you can choose to have the Sch B print. We need a global print option and not just per individual return and to try and remember to go and select to force print it. It's not easy to find.. you have to remember it's under general settings when you are on the interest or dividend screen. It would be nice if the Sch B printed if any amount of dividends and interest are entered on the return.
Hello,Could we get the option to transfer the "What ifs" information entered to the "Tax Planner"?Thank you,Paula
This isn't necessarily a software suggestion, but a way to improve billing and usage transparency. When we go to Purchase > Usage Details to see *how* we used the return credits we've purchased, in addition to seeing the date each credit was used, the client name, return name, return type, and tax year, I'd like to be able to see the method which used that credit. In other words, was it because we printed the return? Or because we e-filed an extension? Or because we e-filed the actual return? Currently there's no way to distinguish whether credits were used from just printing a return or e-filing that return.
Currently, there is a significant gap in how we can customize client requests when moving between single and batch invites. Specifically, I am looking for more granular control over the individual modules (Engagement Letters, Questionnaires, and Checklists) to better fit my firm's existing workflow.First, when using the batch invite tool, we need the ability to manually uncheck or remove the Engagement Letter module before sending. Currently, the batch tool forces the letter included in the template, which creates a conflict for firms like mine that prefer to send a custom PDF engagement letter outside of the Link interface.Second, I am suggesting an update to the "Organizer Template" creation page. There should be a simple toggle to completely disable or "turn off" the Engagement Letter and Document Checklist sections at the template level. This would allow us to create a "clean" template that only includes the specific items we want, without the system forcing us to include placeholders or proforma data.Providing this level of flexibility in both the template settings and the batch sending screen would ensure a much more professional and streamlined experience for our clients.
