california real estate withholding

A Real Estate withholding will NOT SHOW UP ON the tax return unless you enter a "1" for Form 592-B or a "2" for Form 593.  Lacerte, please add this is MANDATORY data entry or the credit will not be on the tax return!  There is no diagnostic about this either!

Location:  Individual detail,  Line 54 "Part-Yr/Nonres.Information;  click on California Real Estate & Other Withholding" in General information section at the Top.  First box MUST BE CHECKED!

Lacerte, please confirm you will make this change going forward!

    I'm glad that you have suggested this improvement.  I bet CA preparers are their biggest clients, and I think we need to make more noise to ensure good California tax returns.
