Override field with textDiscussion ongoing

For a partner's K-1 form, I would like to override the % profit, loss & capital with a text field like "Per Agreement".  Then the partner can contact the general partner or managing member for details.  You can do this in Ultratax (I am converting from UT).  Thank You

ProSeries Iowa Tax Module Iowa tax form: IA 123 Net Operating Loss Schedule 41-123  IDOR link:  https://tax.iowa.gov/sites/default/files/2021-12/IA123%2841123%29.pdf Iowa did not follow the 2017, nor the 2020 Federal Tax Acts.  Iowa has gone it's own way on NOLs and does not follow the Federal NOL law. IMPORTANT:  IA 123 is used to make the irrevocable Iowa NOL election to carry forward or to carry back the IA NOL.  This election must be made on a timely filed Iowa return. IA 123 is also used to compute NOL amounts created and used for each year. IA 123 is needed to e-file Iowa NOL returns. IA 123 is a pretty straight-forward two-page tax form/schedule.   IA 123 addition to Iowa tax forms is a need, not a want.

Next year ES worksheet glitch & effect of Excess Premium Tax CreditNew

Line 5 is missing the Excess Advance Premium Tax Credit.I saw this because my client will not have the EAPTC in 2022. With an input of -1 in Code 98 of Screen 7.1, Line 6 is 4,668, which is correct.@1569 I think this belongs in the Tax Idea Exchange because it indicates a software glitch. Unrelated, if you know why LC allows a blank 3rd Quarter Estimated Tax Voucher for California, please share.

After updating Lacerte - the splash screen should address "what's new" on the most recent update and not all that is new in 202X.   There is no value after seeing the same for more than a few times.

I would like to see a "to do" diagnostic for missing items that were input in the prior year. For example, say a client had student loan interest or a 1099-R for early retirement distributions and I had NOT input those items in the current year, the software would prompt me in the diagnostic screen to show those items as "to do's." This would alert me that I might be missing items in the return that I had last year. This will help errors be caught before being filed and avoid mistakes and filing amended returns.

MN M1PR Line 5 overrideDiscussion ongoing

I would like to see an option to enter and override amount for Line 5 of the M1PR for the 2021 Lacerte Program.  As of now the federal net operating loss (or a portion of it) is being added back twice for this line, which seems to follow the instructions.  I have had conversations with the Minnesota Department of Revenue and received a reply in writing that this was not the intention and that there should not be the double addback.  They are working on changing the instructions for future years, but will not the 2021 instructions.  My instructions from Revenue state "If your client included their NOL and has a positive value on line 35 of Schedule M1NC, please disregard the instruction to addback NOL carryforward/carryback to the extent they reduced the federal adjusted gross income (FAGI) on Form M1PR instructions.  Only addback the positive amount on line 35 of Schedule M1NC."If an override for the line 5 total was in the program, a PDF of Schedule M1PR-AI, additions to income, could be attached to the M1PR and the forms would still be able to be electronically filed.  As of now, the only option is to manually prepare and file the forms.

Adding MA Form PC to Exempt Org Tax TypeDiscussion ongoing

Most Massachusetts exempt organizations also have to file a Form PC with the MA Division of Charities. Lacerte does not include this form in the Exempt Organization package. I believe ProSeries does. It would be very helpful when preparing MA exempt organization tax returns to also be able to prepare the Form PC using Lacerte as well. 1.  The "Add/Edit Notes" (i.e., the pencil) in ProSeries....can you make the note box a little bit larger?  I don't even need text formatting.  I just need a bigger box to type in.2.  Form 1065, Schedule M-2....can we get a toggle switch (a check box) to identify where the beginning balance is to come from (i.e., Schedule L or prior year) for those of us presenting GAAP basis in our Schedule L?3.  Calculation Mismatches:  When a field takes a number from another field in the return but that field will also let you enter your own number if you wish (i.e., to effectively override the program without truly overriding the field via "control D") can the field change color to inform the preparer that by deleting the existing amount they have entered, the field will repopulate on its own with an updated amount chosen by ProSeries?  [In short, we've all deleted a number that we thought we entered correctly or thought needed to be entered in a field, only to delete it and then find out that ProSeries had a different number in mind.  Either method should be acceptable, but it would be helpful to know if there is an inherent error.....so that we know....and not just the taxing authorities after the return has been filed.]4.  MA Form 3, Schedule M-1 (I know, I'm getting provincial, my apologies)....can you include a check box so that the Federal M-1 populates in the MA Form 3 even if a Federal M-3 is filed?5.  5227..... Thank you.

provide a box to check in the schedule E rental input when making the election since the address is already there instead of having to input the same address in the election screen, maybe the same for schedule C since the address is entered for that as well (although there could be other business locations, but it would be much faster for those small clients who only have one location)

Filing instructions for fiduciary extension payment for CaliforniaDiscussion ongoing

Just blank, why can't the fiduciary program function just like the individual program when it comes to generating an instruction letter to pay the extension amount?  Unlike an individual who files every year, often times you have a grieving trustee who is doing this for the first time and it would be nice to be able to send a nice letter telling them the payee and address.

estimated tax worksheet - allow tax preparer to change defaultNew

The system defaults to vouchers (estimated tax vouchers) based on 100% of the 2021 tax.  Most of my clients want vouchers based on 100% of the 2022 estimated tax (because this calculation is based on the estimated tax payments made in the prior year).  I would like for all of my clients to use the 100% of the 2022 estimated tax but can't make that option my default.

eFile final business returns when dueDiscussion ongoing

When a business closes, the due date for the final income tax or information return is within months and could fall in the same year as a calendar year return that was already e-filed. Businesses close mid-year more often than year-end, and there is no way to eFile that return on a timely basis in ProConnect. The support given me today was to wait until the 2022 year was released. Well, my return will be late by then, not to mention thrown in with all the other busy season work. Other tax prep programs that I have used did not force me to wait until the next season.

Stop listing the taxpayer's email address on the filing copy of the federal return! ProSeries support told me this the IRS authorized this but this is NOT true! The support agent told me the only way to remove the taxpayer's email address from the 1040 was to delete it from the Federal Information Worksheet. This is a programming issue and needs to be corrected!!!!

eFile final business returnsDiscussion ongoing

I would like to be able to efile a business final return when it is due. Businesses close mid-year and the final filing is due within months and often falls within the same year where there is already a completed e-filing. Support today advised me to wait until next season when the 2022 comes out. I want to file the return when due, not when it is convenient for ProConnect. Why in the world would I postpone a project like this until the busy season? Why would I delay finishing a project that the client may not have funds for come next season? Other tax prep programs that I have used were completely accommodating.

Lacerte "Full Year Resident" box Screen 1 ProformaDiscussion ongoing

When there is a multi-state resident in Year 1, after the client is proforma'd to Year 2, Lacerte does not automatically check the "Full Year Resident" box. It would be a good idea for Lacerte to make checking this box a default upon proforma to Year 2 based on the state selected as "Resident State as of 12/31" in Year 1. Alternatively, if the box is not checked, Lacerte should have a diagnostic indicating that the "Full Year Resident" box is not checked. If there are solutions to this issue, please respond!

LA e-file with IRS Form 5227Discussion ongoing

Form 5227 (Split Interest Return) is a paper file with IRS but Louisiana requires e-file of return filed with LDR. we have tried to e-file the Louisiana return but gets kicked back because the federal return is not e-file return. called LDR and person we talked to said it wasn't their problem and there was a most likely chance if the return wasn't e-filed there would be a penalty...would be nice for something to be set up so LA return could be e-filed

form 3520, 3520-A,8992,8993Discussion ongoing

These international information returns are a must for practitioners dealing with expat. work.As you have 5471 on the software, the 8992 and 8993 are required in most of the 5471 filings.Without proseries having these forms, we have to use a third party forms package to deal file them. Most forms packages will not roll forward comparative data but most do the arithmetic computations in the required cell fields. Regardless, you need to get these forms for next year.I noticed that you have  the pfic 8621 for a few years now and have provided the long term capital gain and qual dividend adjustment on the form 1116 computation form. The latter was  not there for years and i  hope my same suggestions years ago was the decision to make the  change. it would be nice to see a worksheet on how the software computes this adjustment. I also recommend that on schedule e and B input there is a tick box to source the particular income to a country A, B, etc as this has been entered  manually on  the 1116 comp. worksheet for ever....

Currently we get an "Informational diagnostic" when DD is selected for a 1040X E-file.  This causes a reject by the IRS.  This should be a "Critical Diagnostic" which prevent e-filing from Lacerte.

Minnesota form KSNC for S Corp federal adjustments does not exist in software?Discussion ongoing

Apparently the Minnesota form KSNC for federal adjustments in the S corporate module does not exist.  This form reports to the state various adjustments that the state does not conform to.  For example, employee retention credits that reduce wages deducted on the federal side, but not for the state.
