Although client can upload documents from a web browser, it would probably be more user friendly if Intuit Link had an app.
The Georgia form 500 schedule 3 has a computation error. When you view the schedule 3 on the print preview screen column A minus Column B should equal Column 3 but in some situations it doe not. In particular line 4 and Line 5 of schedule 3 column A minus Column B does not add or substract to equal column C unless you manually manipulate the Inc/Ret worksheet in the program. If this calculation is wrong then Georgia Dept. of Revenue will just delete the schedule 3 all together and your return will be incorrect. Line 4 other income (loss) on schedule 3 from a S corporation was my issue where I directly inputted the Correct S corporation income from Georgia on Inc/Ret Wks on Georgia Column A line 6A. The return was correct but The Schedule 3 was not computing the math for column A B & C Line 4 and 5 correctly.Again Georgia Dept. of Revenue rejected Schedule 3 entirely.
My understanding is that you need to download files and then upload them to shared files in Intuit Link in order for client to gain access to them via the client portal. Is this correct? If so, can intuit please add a feature that allows tax preparers to automatically share tax returns with clients in Intuit Link when e-filing? Also, is there a way to share other documents without having to upload them twice or download and then upload to shared documents? There should be a share button/option for all firm documents (see attached image).
We would love to be able to query our returns to compile downloadable lists of subsets of clients based on forms or other data in their return. For example, if there is a law change in CA, it'd be nice to run a report for all CA clients. Or to set-up estimates reminders in our system, to be able to pull a report for all clients' with a 1040-ES populated in the return. Thanks for your consideration.
In the individual module, the Basis Computation for the partnership activity has 2 errors that could easily be fixed:1) Federal basis is not reduced by 13W deductions if put in the portfolio expense {CA only} (screen 20 code 226) - I have to enter as an adjustment to basis then add back for CA purposes2) CA is getting reduced twice by foreign taxes paid - once from the foreign tax input and then again in nondeductible expenses reported on CA K1 line 18c (screen 20 code 359) I have to add back to CA basis due to the double entry.
The Intuit help says to use a foreign address to file form 4868, but I looked up the IRS instructions for the form and found none on the requirement. If you enter a foreign address, and choose to use firm address (option 1), then form 4868 has firm address, not the foreign address. This again shows the foreign address is not required by the IRS.Many overseas taxpayers prefer to use an US address for easier and quicker communication, and I think the IRS too. To use a foreign address, you have to erase the US address, file the extension, and then re-enter the US address. Please eliminate the foreign address restriction.
The State extension efile payment record when printing the return is shows an incorrect date of payment. The amount was paid with the extension, sent by filing due date. Return was finalized at a later date, 3 months later. When printing the taxpayers copy of their return, I noticed the state extension efile payment record is showing payment due on the date the return was filed (July), not the extension filing date (April). In the detail input of Lacerte, screen 6, the correct dates of the tax amounts due and when paid were entered. Why doesn't this date paid carry over to the Extension Efile Payment Record that prints with the return? The payments are showing as paid on the returns themselves, but this payment record and the Preparer efile inststructions are not updated with the payments being made and it makes it look like the tax is still due, but it was paid 3 months ago. Supporting schedules to the returns do not match up to the returns that the extension payments were actually made. Please fix this.
Please add Form 2290 to the list of forms for businesses and add efile capability please.
Please note that the QOZ census tract number needs to include the leading zeros as IRS verifies against the GEO database for 11 digits. Please update the field for the partnership module screen 74.We received a letter from the IRS to correct this matter.
Being able to generate a list of clients in the business modules (Partnership, S Corp, C Corp, Fidicuary, Exempt) of returns that are final (not status) but final as in the business sold, closed, etc.
In order to amend a electronically filed Form 1065 (year 2020 and later) aka an AAR, you are required to attach Form 8082. Making us prepare & file Form 8082 as a pdf is a waste of valuable time. (Also your instructions for Amending an efiled Form 1065 do not mention the Form 8082 requirement which can cause accountants to file incomplete amended Form 1065's.)
