While working in the 2019 program (due to an IRS audit for a client), the IRS auditor requested information that posted to various forms (4797, 4952, etc) from the K-1s received by the client. Each time I needed backup support for the selected items on the tax forms, I right-clicked onto the amount, then clicked on Cross Reference, hoping to see the amounts (by K-1) that make up the desired item.No such luck... It never worked. This process has worked in the past, but it actually appears to work less now than it used to work. What's up with that ?Please let me know that you can develop the software so that any number on a tax form can be "seen" for all sources that feed into that amount.thankssjf
Being able to send files to a client through the E-Signature dashboard has many features which would make it more efficient to use for the full range of Tax Preparation needs. 1. The ability to send documents to clients should have nothing to do with their tax-filing readiness. Currently, you cannot send documents to clients who have already had their taxes filed, or if there are errors in their return. (Yes, there are some ways around sending documents if there are errors in the return, but this is a time consuming process and makes the client falsely appear ready to E-File). Since I can send any necessary PDF through the service, I would like to be able to send Powers of Attorney or Form 8821s to clients regardless of their tax filing status. 2. Multiple CPAs should be able to electronically sign a document before it is sent to a client to sign. Currently, for engagement letters, Form 8879s, and Powers of Attorney my firm has been creating a file in ProSeries for a client, then printing a version of that file to sign with pen, then scanning the signed copy which can then be sent to the client. This process is daunting and takes both the tax preparers and admin team a significant amount of time. Docusign already allows multiple signers to be sent a document in order to consecutively view and sign - and the E-Signature dashboard is run through Docusign. Please allow for multiple CPAs to be able to sign a document before it is sent to clients! (Powers of Attorney can have more than one CPA authorized, thus the need for multiple signatures.)3. The E-Signature dashboard should have a button which allows me to pick a client from my list to send a document. Related to point 1, if tax-readiness was not required for sending documents I wouldn't have to open the client's file in order to send them a document. A button to "request signatures" could open a list of clients, from there I could select from "frequent forms" (it would be extra awesome if this frequent forms was customizable) or select from the form lookup box. 3b. It would also be very helpful if I could send a specific page from a client's tax file. For example: I could fill out the required form in the client's file, then request that specific and already filled out form be signed. (from both the drop-down E-Signature dashboard, or from the aforementioned button). 4. Be able to multi-send forms to clients. Forms like the engagement letter which need to be sent out enmasse should be able to be prepared in advance then multiple clients can be selected to receive their copy of the form. Names can be auto-populated from a list and linked to specific emails. Email marketing campaigns do this, why can't we? Many of these features were things my firm was under the impression were already possible when we switched from a different E-Signature service, we haven't been particularly happy with the product. It is clunky and difficult to use. There are some useful features and we appreciate the integration with other intuit services, but as the world becomes more digital so should our ability to prepare taxes securely.
I have the following issues with your software that probably a lot of other practitioners have the issues also. When you start your program, either have the password block tell you that you have CAPS LOCK on, or have a option to show what you typed after you typed it. The second one is used in QuickBooks. It has a “Show” button that lets you see what you typed. Go to their programmers and steal it from them.As your program is loading (during tax season when you have some returns sent electronically and not finally accepted by the taxing agency), you have the program to automatically go out to get acknowledgements. That is a pain, especially when you are going in to get a piece of information for a client. This is also happening after the end of the regular filing season and I don’t have any “Pending”.While in the dashboard (not in a tax file), THE ADVERTISING OF SERVICES (E.G. ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES) is not needed. Send me an email so I can elect to read the email or let it set for later review. How can we make the dashboard screens bigger print? In the older software this is really a problem. There has to be a fix for that other than making your universal settings have a large print.
I am a new user to Lacerte converting from UltraTax. To my shock and indeed horror I just found out that Lacerte does not perform electronic payment of Individual Kansas estimated tax payments. UltraTax did perform electronic payment of Individual Kansas estimated tax payments. I am herein pleading with Lacerte management and programming staff to implement this change ASAP. Briefly, I prepare about 280 individual income tax returns. At most I have maybe 10 such clients who will remember to make their KS estimated tax payments when I provide them with vouchers and instructions. The rest of my clients just forget it about and then they are aghast when it comes filing time and they realize how much KS income tax they owe. At this point it is probably too late for me to back out of my Lacerte subscription, but if I had known this in advance it would have been a deal breaker for me. The same is true of every other state and jurisdiction - any that allow electronic payment of balances due, extension, and estimates should be fully automated in Lacerte and any other competitive income tax preparation software. HELP!!!!!
