E-Signature OverallDiscussion ongoing

Being able to send files to a client through the E-Signature dashboard has many features which would make it more efficient to use for the full range of Tax Preparation needs. 1. The ability to send documents to clients should have nothing to do with their tax-filing readiness. Currently, you cannot send documents to clients who have already had their taxes filed, or if there are errors in their return. (Yes, there are some ways around sending documents if there are errors in the return, but this is a time consuming process and makes the client falsely appear ready to E-File). Since I can send any necessary PDF through the service, I would like to be able to send Powers of Attorney or Form 8821s to clients regardless of their tax filing status. 2. Multiple CPAs should be able to electronically sign a document before it is sent to a client to sign. Currently, for engagement letters, Form 8879s, and Powers of Attorney my firm has been creating a file in ProSeries for a client, then printing a version of that file to sign with pen, then scanning the signed copy which can then be sent to the client. This process is daunting and takes both the tax preparers and admin team a significant amount of time. Docusign already allows multiple signers to be sent a document in order to consecutively view and sign - and the E-Signature dashboard is run through Docusign. Please allow for multiple CPAs to be able to sign a document before it is sent to clients! (Powers of Attorney can have more than one CPA authorized, thus the need for multiple signatures.)3. The E-Signature dashboard should have a button which allows me to pick a client from my list to send a document. Related to point 1, if tax-readiness was not required for sending documents I wouldn't have to open the client's file in order to send them a document. A button to "request signatures" could open a list of clients, from there I could select from "frequent forms" (it would be extra awesome if this frequent forms was customizable) or select from the form lookup box. 3b. It would also be very helpful if I could send a specific page from a client's tax file. For example: I could fill out the required form in the client's file, then request that specific and already filled out form be signed. (from both the drop-down E-Signature dashboard, or from the aforementioned button). 4. Be able to multi-send forms to clients. Forms like the engagement letter which need to be sent out enmasse should be able to be prepared in advance then multiple clients can be selected to receive their copy of the form. Names can be auto-populated from a list and linked to specific emails. Email marketing campaigns do this, why can't we?  Many of these features were things my firm was under the impression were already possible when we switched from a different E-Signature service, we haven't been particularly happy with the product. It is clunky and difficult to use. There are some useful features and we appreciate the integration with other intuit services, but as the world becomes more digital so should our ability to prepare taxes securely.

Redact social security number on government copy of 104 when e-filedDiscussion ongoing

We need the ability to redact social security number on government copy of 1040 when e-filed.  This version of the return is the best version to give banks, schools, and anyone else needing a copy of the filed return.  It is concise, complete, and no unneeded supporting schedules.  I even have a cool cover sheet automatically generated so when the pdf is forwarded it make a nice package.  The problem is it has the clients SSN etc on all the pages and that should not be distributed.  You don't know how that is going to be handled once it leaves the clients possession.  And redacting ourselves doesn't make sense, too expensive, and prone to omission.I currently provide the client with the client copy and it has all the schedules, worksheets, etc that I feel will support the return and give the client the information of how the numbers were arrived at.  But that is way too much info for banks etc.I load up the Preparer copy with any schedule or worksheet I might need to support my position without having to access the software.  Also not a good version to distribute. The other solution is to add a fourth category called "DISTRIBUTION COPY" where we can determine what pages to include and it's redact-able.We need to make security easy to do.  Perhaps the 4th version might be the best.99.9% of my clients are e-filed fed and state.  And now 80% I get the info electronically and the return goes back to the client electronically, so moving documents needs to allow for redaction.  Yes I use a secure Portal but clients may not be as careful as we are, and the recipient of the copy may not be either.  We should do what we can.
