It would be extremely helpful to add the engagement letter to the E-Signature forms in lacerte. Our process is to obtain engagement letter signatures at the same time we obtain efile authorizations through docusign. As part of our process we manually print the client engagement letter template through lacerte database reports as a pdf and then reattach it to the Lacerte e-signature additional documents. It would save significant time to have the e-signature forms grab the reference engagement letter and automatically add the document.
Business returns 1065/1120S/1120, the previous years information does not transfer into the current year. This happens on personal returns. The effect to us is we must input lines of data on business returns and on personal returns the information is carried over to the current year. The business returns is where we really need this as theses returns are where we see multiple rental properties. Each property owned must be input, so if there are twenty properties we have 20 line of information.Thank you.
8-16-2023 I have the hosted product. Today I lost tax data due to a problem with Right Networks. The last backup done by R.N. was done 24 hours prior to the data loss. I suggest more frequent backups. During tax season at least twice per day should be standard. Should there be more frequent backups?
Posted 8/28/23.Clients in CA might be waiting until the last minute for K-1s from passthroughs. To file on time, I might need to prompt them to get me info so I can prepare an estimate.I'd like to identify clients that received K-1s from passthrough entities in 2021. But I want to use 2022 Lacerte. Is there a trick to make it easy? The display can show Ptsp/S Corps but that isn't helpful. Is there a tool or a database report? (I posted this in the main topic thread, but no answers were received. So I'm trying to elevate it to the software technical people by posting to this tax idea exchange.)
The ID field currently doesn't give the option to input a 9-digit entity number for a Trust or Estate when preparing a Form 1040NR/540NR. Had to have technical support do it.
Currently, a K1 with multiple activities requires each activity must be separately entered into its own input sheet. The K1 I am now inputting has 23 activities, and I have several similar K1s. ProSeries should allow tax preparers the ability to enter one K1 input sheet with multiple QBI activity entries within that 1 K1 input sheet. This would save numerous hours of input time and be more technically accurate for my client & how they report. If preparers wanted to enter each activity separately, they would still be able to do so.
I'm still not sure about my inputs but I just completed an SC1120S that included Form I-435. I was surprised at how much of the I-435 information that I had to input myself - that the form itself didn't pull in ANY data from other parts of the return, e.g. from the Schedule SC-K worksheet. I'm also surprised that I didn't get a "critical diagnostic" when lines 1 - 12d , column F of the Schedule SC-K worksheet did not equal page 1, line 4 of the SC1120S as the instructions state.
