When emailing a client any documents (client checklist or tax return) the system defaults to primary taxpayers email address.  We find that the responsible party may not always be the primary taxpayer.  If we could get an option to select which email the client would like information to be forwarded to, that would be a great time savings.  This would also allow us to keep the email for each taxpayer in the correct place instead of putting the spouse's email into the primary taxpayers information.

Summary report for Quick Employer Forms & State copies of W-2s for submissionDiscussion ongoing

There needs to be a summary report that can be printed that shows each employee, their gross pay and all their withholdings for the year.  Also there needs to be a way to just print the state copy of the W-2 for all employees in one selection that can then be submitted to the state rather then having to pick each employee to print.

E Signatures Purchase Deadline? Why?Discussion ongoing

I just accidently purchased E Signatures for Lacerte 2023 in Lacerte 2022.  I was trying to purchase 2022 E Signatures but failed to read that I was actually purchasing 2023 signatures.  It would have never occurred to me I could purchase 2023 signatures in my 2022 software.  Turns out I missed the 12/31/2023 deadline for 2022 signatures.  Why is there a deadline? I paid a higher price for the 2023 signatures because I only needed a handful, and they are nonrefundable.  Unfortunately, I did it multiple times because I didn't see it come through.  I think E Signatures for each year should only be able to be purchased in the year of Lacerte one is working on.  It is not helpful or intuitive that you can purchase E Signatures for 2023 in the 2022 version of Lacerte.

PROSERIES used to turn ALL file names to lower case when it does the transfer year to year. Please turn that TEXT Formula back on.I share PDFs Two-year Comps and other forms as well as an encrypted Filing Copy before and after eFiling.It just looks better to be uniform and is needed because I copy and paste most people's names from various places when I add them to a return so they don't get misspelled (especially when they have foreign names) and also use those fields to save the file name so now some of them are all UPPER or all LOWER or a combination, thanks.

As of the 2022 year, the Federal form 3468 re rehab and energy credits is not part of the 1041 program package.  We have to use another platform to complete it, and then attach the form as a pdf attachment to the Federal 1041 filed with Lacerte.It is far cleaner to include the Federal 3468 form to the fiduciary lacerte package.

the PDF export feature in ProConnect should result in an "interactive pdf" format, not just a plain old pdf. Then, our tax clients can merely fill out the tax organizer forms online... rather than have to print them out, scan them, and upload to tax preparers. Ugh! That would be much more user friendly - both for us tax preparers and for our clients!

iOS-friendly Organizer FormatNew

While e-organizers would certainly be the most convenient format to send out organizers (and do it all at once), most of our clients have not liked them and are often confused by the format.  Therefore, our firm has had to email most organizers via the "Print paper organizers" option and then selecting the "email (pdf)" box on the print screen in order to auto-generate an email with the organizer attached.  This is obviously time-consuming enough as only one email at a time can be sent.However, when sent in this manner, clients using Apple devices receive the file in an unusable "WINMAIL.DAT" file format.  With many clients using iOS devices, this is becoming an increasing inconvenience, as we then have to re-send these individually by saving the file to the desktop and then sending again.  Since clients generally do not like the e-organizer format, I dread going through and sending the organizers each year, one at a time.  But this issue with the iOS file formatting really makes what would be an inconvenience into a real hassle, as clients continue to email requests to resend these in an Apple-compatible format.

I had various questions (3) for Sierra when I called in today.  She handled each one with a quick and precise answer to each of them.   I frankly do not often write a review, but should.   I this case the service was so outstanding, I would like to have Sierra answer all my questions year round when it comes to IT issues or anything Lacerte.

1)  Please put the K-1 input screens in alphabetical order in the navigation screen/panel.  I have a clients with 60+ K-1s and sometimes its very hard to find the K-1 input screen since they are not in alphabetical order.2)  Receiving a K-1 with ordinary income and rental income requires 2 input screens in Proseries.  This essentially doubles the amount of time to handle a K-1 received by my clients.  Please allow only 1 input screen per K-1 received.Thanks!  Paul Conrad

Customer contacted me suggesting that there should be a section for all members of household to add phone numbers, not just husband and wife. For example he has children and a grandparent in his household. There is a chance that the grandparent could become ill or even the parents, leaving the children in the dark about his tax matters after filing.

2023 Intuit Link statuses are pulling from the 2022 tax software. About 200 of them say Invitation Accepted, no Invitations have been sent out yet for 2023. A Lacerte Agent said each of those need to be manually uninvited and cannot be done in bulk. This will take hours so please fix this for next year.

Ohio SD 100 electronic filingNew

The Ohio SD100 now requires a checkbox to electronically file in the Profile section.  It should default to being checked like the IT1040. I don't know why this is even a thing to start with.  The Ohio return and the SD100 should always be submitted at the same time, the same way, as in the past.  Please change this!

Does Lacerte management have any idea that when using the electronic link organizer that you can only choose 20 clients at a time. I have 200 clients that used intuit link last year and I would like to send them the intuit link organizer this year. I have to go through the same process 10 different times for this group. In addition, it takes several minutes for the software to process the request. Not sure why the long delay is even a problem. You talk to customer service and they always tell that you submit more than 20 at a time. They take back their "expert" advice once they see me try the process through my system.

I have been w/ Lacerte for 25 years. My biggest frustration is their continual attempt to 'sell' us things, services, staffing, hosting, etc. when their software doesn't even work. I spent about 3 hours on the phone today just to get the ability to log in to one of our 5 workstations and to get an update to go through. Had to uninstall, run web setup for 2022 and reinstall 23 and will have to do that on each workstation tomorrow as each station has its own authentication with the employee's cell phone req'd.Please quit trying to sell us more and just pay for more or more qualified programmers. It seems that every update causes new problems.
