1-23-2025 - Please add the SafeSend option sooner to the tax software. Right now it is not available under the Miscellaneous tab. We have returns to get out now but the SafeSend option is not there and was told we will need to wait another week for a update while our returns to get out pile up. Thank you!
When I access the Lacerte Availability Tool to see what the status is of each form, it gives me the following error message when accessing any Lacerte Module: "Unable to process your request at this time. Please try again after sometime." Please fix this issue. Thank you.
I don't understand why the 2023 organizer requires that you filed the 2023 return. I imported data from 2023 Lacerte, the program has all the information to start the 2024 return, but won't let me print the prior year worksheet because I didn't file the 2023 returns with proconnect. This is a similar problem to Lacerte itself, worksheets for this year were printed from last year's software, which seems completely backwards. The obvious workflow is to print the worksheet as part of the 2024 tax season so why not do it from the current software? If nothing else this makes it harder to transition from one program to another, if you start using Lacerte or ProConnect you don't have full functionality until the following year. It seems like this would make sense from a business perspective if nothing else.
We have no idea whether the IRS will accept an efiled '22 return when we MUST type in 12/31/23 or earlier as the efile signature date for a '22 return. The rep had no idea and there was no way to test the system, as it wouldn't let us get past the input area. In other words, when we plugged in today's date a pop-up told us we cannot input any date past 12/31/23.Now, if this is "known" and the IRS will accept such an amended return, the input area directions should tell us that. If they will NOT accept such a return, instead of a pop-up, it should tell us we cannot efile the return.Errant programmers.
I created some dummy client accounts just to mess around and try some things. Now I am unable to get rid of them. Yes I can make them inactive but they still show up in various lists and fields. There should be a way to get rid of them entirely.I know there is an option when importing clients to merge the data with existing ones. But is there a way to merge clients after the fact? If nothing else I could merge all the dummy accounts into one called "Test" or something to at least cut down on the number of entries.
It's great that Intuit is helping connect us with reliable, vetted Pro Staff outsourcing. HOWEVER, we are NOT ABLE to add the separate required consent form in with the electronic organizer/Intuit Link request for signature like the engagement letter. Since it is required to be a separately signed document from the engagement letter, this is a MUST and is very URGENT to implement.Clients that utilize IntuitLink are the most viable candidates for the outsourcing since all documents are already in there. However, when you have to do an outside consent form and then double pay for e-signatures (once for consent and once for e-file authorization), this is a ridiculous oversight!!!!!
Perhaps the hyperlink in the original article could go directly to the voting idea to vote on.When you find and article that relates to an answer you are looking for but only to find that it is open for voting and when you click on the hyperlink it doesn't take you to the actual idea to vote on. You then have to search through many other ideas before you can find the one you want to vote on.
I would like to be able to edit the Slip Sheer 1 (Large Window Folder) to be able to remove a couple of lines so the client name and our firm names would print a couple of lines higher. The Lacerte 1040 package allows this and it allows me to align the printing with a pre-existing cover we use on all tax returns. In ProSeries, the names are not centered in the existing boxes on our cover form.
I use the comments tool to keep track of what I still need to do for when I stop and start returns. Would be nice that in addition to the normal bullet points to have a bullet point checklist. So for instance this sample bullet point list would have empty circles that I can click to mark that I did it, instead of just the normal dot. Right now I'm just writing the word "Done" next to them, but would be a nice feature to be able to just click it off. Input Balance Sheet Call CA to confirm payments Double check NOL's
The functionality of Intuit Link seems really limited in general. I'm not sure why they can't take the tax organizers that are generated in Lacerte and apply the principles to Proconnect Tax. There has to be a more effective way to do this. SurePrep also does this task really well. The whole thing seems very clunky and difficult. I also don't like that I basically have to copy and paste my engagement letter into Intuit. Seems like we should be able to include it as an attached document that can be signed, or be able to link the eSignatures feature here and utilize that. The formatting and overall look of the engagement letter when pasted in to Intuit Link turns me off, and I send them via Adobe Sign instead. Would be nice to have these handled all in one place.
The document types in the drop-down don't include Schedule K-1, which seems odd. I know it uses the "other" choice, but a K-1 is such a common form I don't see why it isn't included.
When using Intuit Link to send out the tax organizers, you can only send to one email address. The client information (not inside the tax return, but the software itself) doesn't even allow you to enter spouse information or a secondary email address. I can't count the number of times a client emails me asking me to also send the organizer to their spouse.
