Option to suppress watermark on client letter only (and lighten it too)New

It doesn't seem to make sense to me that the watermark would be on the client letter.  I want the watermark on the return, but not the letter itself.  It's way too big and dark too.  It could stand to be lightened a little too, because it is a watermark.  It completely covers the data it's over.  Surely this would be an easy feature to implement.  Pretty please!

PROVIDE THE ABILITY TO PRINT ALL PAYMENT COUPONS IN THE RETURN FROM THE PRINT SCREEN LIKE PRINTING ALL THE EF SIGNATURE FORMS INTO 1 PDF FILE FOR FEDERAL AND ALL STATE RETURNS.  THIS FUNCTION WOULD SAVE A LOT OF TIME SO YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO GO INTO THE STATE RETURN AND THEN PRINT THE SELECTED FORM AND THEN HAVE TO SELECT THE PAYMENT/FILING PAYMENT COUPON FOR EACH STATE.

ct pet filing statusNew

Connecticut has two business returns now.   Even when a checkbox is selected for 'filing pe tax return' and then the tax return is efiled, pro connect does not file the pe tax return AND does not show any kind of code or rejection message.  It just says filed and accepted under the state.   After we file we have to know to unlock the return, select that second state return, and efile a second time.  None of this creates a diagnostic or other code, the dashboard looks all filed and accepted.  This is obviously dangerous and will lead to a lot of returns not filed when people thought they were.  Yes one can see if she goes into the return and looks at detailed information, but that's not a good system.   Please make it file both when efiling or at the very least make it obvious that it didn't like !!! attention needed!!!  hoping is not a strategy.  Thanks

Electronic payment of estimated taxNew

Can Lacerte add electronic payment of estimated tax for the remaining states? Currently there are 18 states that Lacerte has not set up. All those states allow for electronic payment so it would be nice if Lacerte did the same.

Mass Delete of Schedule DNew

I imported a schedule D with 2800 lines, and I needed to delete it. But there is no mass delete. Not only is there no mass delete, but the deletes wouldn't go through. The program would freeze, and it was stuck on Line 867; it wouldn't go further. I ended up deleting that return and starting a new one. A return that I spent 3 days on. If there is a mass import, then there must be a mass delete. I know I am not the only one complaining and frustrated by this, so fix it.

HAVE THE ABILITY TO SORT NEWLY ENTERED EXPENSE CATEGORIES WITH "OTHER DEDUCTIONS"Discussion ongoing

The user should have the ability to sort alphabetically newly entered expense categories within 'OTHER DEDUCTIONS" for any of the tax return types. If it can be done within Ultratax, why can't we do it?

1120-C convet to 1120 to make e filingsNew

We are Pro Series customer, there is a new client with 1120-C (co-up) for 2023.We switch to lacerts to install 1120-C, then with lacerts' technocal support to convert to 1120 (unmark the 1120-C filer), & successfully submitted the e filing.This is a wonderfull sucuccess story to share it.

Diagnostic for form 892New

It would be nice to have a diagnostic for missing form 8962 if there was a prior year form but the current  year is missing data entry in that screen to show that the taxpayer may need information for this form.

e-file acceptance printing programming issueNew

A Technician gave me this link to pass on a programming issue.  I had to learn the hard way that it was critical to have the Lacerte screen occupying only the right 95% of the monitor.  When requesting to print the acceptance letter, frequently a screen critical to the acceptance letter "name acceptance" would only show BEHIND the main Lacerte screen presentation.  A piece of that screen would be visible in the open left 5% of the monitor, allowing me to see, select, and "approve".  Can the programmers fix that?

Get Rid of Automatic UpdatesNew

Lacerte 2024 has an inordinate amount of problems with it this year.  They seem to be centered around the Lacerte auto update feature.  Please get rid of this feature and go back to the way things used to be.  You have taken something that was not broken, and you have broken it.  Change is a good thing if it improves the user experience.  Auto Updates does not improve the user experience, but rather has left Lacerte more vulnerable to glitches and bugs.  Make Lacerte robust again by going back to the way things were with Lacerte 2023.

Turn off esignature addNew

There is an ad trying to sell esignature that pops up when a return is printed.  This pop up must be closed before you can continue.  With the fees paid to Lacerte, I assumed this is not an ad based system.  Please add an option to at least turn off these interruptions to our work flow

I'd like to be able to print from help topics that pop up in the help dialog.  So far, I've not found a way to print them.  I'd like to be able to keep a hard copy of a procedure that I find with the tax return that it pertains to.

1st Estimated PaymentsNew

When filing the 1st estimated payment for 2025, and you are under extension for 2024, the software uses the 2024 payments as credit against the 1st estimated creating different workarounds for different states where you want to make the payment electronically through Lacerte. On Screen 10, in the box that says "Credit to 2025" there should be a selection to ignore any credit carryover to 2025". I says you can hit Ctrl T to but in an amount to credit but that doesn't work. Marking that you do not the the credit to be taken into account when calculating the 2025 estimate then need to be programmed such the the sollar amount for the 1st estimate is used and not altered in any way.

Form 8938 for accounts held jointly with Taxpayer and Spouse.New

It would be nice if there was a quicker and easier way to complete form 8938s when the accounts are jointly held. Currently it has to be entered twice to duplicate the form to print one for spouse jointly held with taxpayer and second for taxpayer with spouse jointly held.

Windows 11New

Treat your customers the way you want to be treated.I think Intuit, does not mater the division, but in this case Lacerte/Professional Tax should let their users/customers/clients know with as much notice as possible when they, the customer, will need to upgrade their systems, both software, Operating Systems, and hardware.Currently Microsoft is engaged in a BIG push to get all windows user to upgrade to Widows 11.  If Lacerte is going to force us to upgrade now is the time to let us know as most firms upgrade their systems in the summer.  Also, Lacerte/Intuit needs to be transparent on what software, as in years, will work on Windows 11, and what the work around is for prior years that will ne work.  We all know that Windows 11 does not play well with DOS and that Lacerte, especially the software prior 20 2024 is DOS based.

Search functionDiscussion ongoing

Using the Search function in Lacerte has been very hit or miss for me.  I rarely receive highly relevant information when I search for advanced "how to" procedural help or help on form data input questions.  More often than not, the results are just basic information that contain a keyword or similar keyword, totally unrelated to what I'm looking for.  I know that there are many facets to Lacerte's help (Help Center, Contents and Search, Online Community, etc.), but that's the problem. I expect a search to encompass those databases and provide me with highly relevant information. Lacerte's context-sensitive help, by contrast, is excellent.  Can Lacerte implement a better search engine, system of filters, or some type of AI assistant for help? I've read that Intuit places a high value on AI.  Why not put some effort into using it to improve Lacerte?

Programming Error in Lacerte Idaho returnNew

Idaho provides a Grocery credit to taxpayers and dependents for each month in which the taxpayer meets all three of the following criteria:  1) Did not receive food stamps in that month; (2) Was not incarcerated in that month; and (3) had legal presence in the U.S. in that month.   Current input screen allows preparer to enter the months in which a taxpayer and the secondary taxpayer were eligible for the credit.  However, the screen requires and entry of 1 - 12.  One cannot enter 0.  There is no screen in which a preparer can enter the number of months that dependents were eligible for the credit.  In the return I prepared today, neither the taxpayer nor the spouse had legal presence.  They have a dependent child who is a U.S. citizen for whom they did not receive food stamps.  The child was eligible for twelve months.  To get the return to populate correctly, I falsely input that both the taxpayer and spouse had 4 months of food stamp eligibility.  The software then assumed that the child also had 4 months eligibility and prepared a return with a total of 12 months eligible for the grocery credit.  This is not as it should be.  Please correct the software.

Other softwares offer Excel import availability for K-1, K-3 and 199A data.  ProC needs to add this ability.We will be moving to another software if this isn't updated for 2025.

scroll bar interfaceNew

In some instances you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to get to the horizontal scroll bar and then that makes you lose your headings!It is truly maddening.  We will be moving to another software if this isn't updated for 2025.
