TRIGGER CRITIAL DIAGNOSITIC ON ENTRY OF LETTERS IN A FIELD THAT MUST BE NUMBERS ONLY TO CORRECLTY COMPUTE TAXNew

To Whom it May Concern,In Pro Tax Connect, when entering Box 5 Social Security Benefits, the user is allowed to enter both numbers and letters.  When letters are added the system disregards any numbers and assumes zero resulting in the understatement of taxable income. I've prepared a reviewed 3,000 returns over the past decade.  I never made the error of entering a stray letter where a number should be.  Then, I missed it on review.I would suggest, if possible, to have the system critical error flag if letters are entered in a number only field. Thank you and regards,

My New York clients are sending information about New York IT-268 but I noticed that in the current release that this Form is not yet supported in Lacerte.  I have clients that this would apply to and hope that you will incorporate this 1 page gorm in our software.

1) Line 16 does not exist2) more importantly, Box 14 code "414H" or 414(H) = Proseries Identification "NY IRC 414h Subject to NY Tax" - when this has a value entered in "Amount", Proseries DOES NOT auto calculate Boxes 3-6. Have to do manually. Please auto calculate boxes 3-6 in this case same as you do for Box 12 codes D - F

Cursor jumps to top of pageNew

After entering info into a field, the cursor jumps back to the top of the page, wasting time and causing the user to hunt for the field / area of input again.

The Federal Income Tax Summary does not have a separate listing in the Tax Computation for the new1A deductions tips, overtime, and the senior deductions.  The IA deductions are calculating but notseparately listed.  Software needs to be updated as soon as possible.

Schedule 1-A Additional Deductions needs a line on the Federal Tax Summary pageNew

The Federal income tax return summary jumps from Adjusted gross income to itemized/standard deduction and then straight to Taxable income without accounting for the subtractions noted on Schedule 1-A for Additional Deductions.This is a mathematically incorrect presentation and it does not show the change from the prior year of zero 1-A adjustments to this year's amount.Can a line be added for the Schedule 1-A Additional Deductions from taxable income for Tips, OT, car loan interest and the senior $6000 deduction?

Non-taxable amount of OT on Tax SummaryNew

The amount of non-taxable OT is not showing up on the tax summary, and therefore does not show up on the control totals report either. It is buried in the taxable income calculation, but not individually. I am assuming the non-taxable tips will be the same issue.These items NEED to be available on the tax summary and able to tie out to them on the control totals report!

E-FilingNew

New Mexico encourages e-filing of corporate returns.  Proseries does not support this. Please work on it at least for next year- I would like clients to be done with filing when they leave my office instead of having to mail a paper return to NM for their corporations

Washington Working Families Tax Credit ApplicationNew

For three years, the Lacerte Individual program will not print refund information on the Washington State Filing Instructions form printed with the tax return. You must unselect the direct deposit box on screen 3 under Washington Direct Deposit to get the refund information to print. Then go back and reselect the box for e-filing. Federal banking information is entered and the box has been checked stating the banking information has been verified.

Partner DE code error for lack of EIN is not correctNew

Pro Series Partnership Software requires an EIN for a disregarded LLC entity is not correctThe 1065 Software issues an error for an LLC partner that does not have an EIN.  This is not tax law.  An LLC that has a single member does not have to have an EIN.  Pro Series needs to change and allow the DE code entry without an EIN.  I have had owners refuse to get an EIN just for Pro Series.

Add Spouse Name for Client Profile AND Engagement LetterNew

It is hard to imagine in 2026 that the only option on the client is "taxpayer" and not the spouse. We need the spouse included in the profile AND a spouse signature on the Engagement Letter. This great process is useless to us without both signatures. Even if the argument is that it isn't "required", my insurance company disagrees and it is a matter of respect. Are we living in 1920?

I am disappointed with the Customer Service Policies created by Lacerte and therefore Intuit as to how an issue can be resolved.   If I call in with an issue, instead of tying up my time and placing me on hold.  Customer Service should be allowed to troubleshoot and figure out the issue without me being on hold.   I hold not hte customer service tech responsible for this issue, but the VP Customer Service, or whoever the executive is in charge as their policies are not creating a culture of service but of inconvenience.   Very disappointing!

Diagnostic 19789New

This diagnostic is out of date as the 1120 H forms are now able to be e-filed affective for tax year 2024. This diagnostic is incorrect and has to be overridden to e-file the returns adding time and complexity to the process.

Form 8825 real estate taxes problemNew

The problem:Form 8825 now only has a line for "real estate taxes" rather than just "taxes".  The old program was better, because in the current day and age, a lot of the taxes paid for rentals is either California FTB  tax $800 a year, (or more importantly, pass thru entity elective tax).  Neither of these types of taxes are deductible for state tax purposes (but they are deductible for Federal).  So, we need Lacerte to either:1.  Add another line to the rental screen for "taxes other than real estate".  Then add a new line at the bottom of the screen entitled "taxes other than real estate, state if different".  2.  Or, alternatively  Lacerte should finally break down and add a new column, to the right of the first column entitled "state, if different", that would apply to every single line item on the rental screen (including the "other expenses" section that you access with Control E.I just called Lacerte technical support, they have no suggestions, and instructed me to access these feedback forum.This is a significant issue, affecting nearly any LLC in California that's engaged in the rental business, as well as filings for other states that have pass thru entity elective tax.It seems that other users have previously commented about this issue, but no action has been taken.  When we may expect this to be corrected?
