I have several taxpayers with dependents who alternate between divorced parents based on odd and even years. There should be a way to suspend a dependent from being included in the current year without being required to delete them and reentering the info the next year. Also, the odd or even option should be part of the error checking like the banking info. I should be prompted to confirm if a dependent is eligible based on the divorce decree. There should be a flag on each to retain the odd or even information.
My problem is the 1040 had a refund and the state had a balance due. There should be separate selections for each and rather than in the info page it should be on the final portion of the tax return where you have the option of applying a refund to a future period. At that point all the banking info is available and selecting an option (apply-refund-pay) would be mutually exclusive within the tax return and each tax return could have an independent choice.
Intuit finds a way to increase their prices every year. Either it’s phasing out quickbooks desktop and force people to pay a monthly or annual fee to use quickbooks online, or now forcing a $99 user access fee in order to e-file while still increasing the filing fee for business and personal returns.
Hello,We get a lot of customers from year to year complaining they have trouble filling out the electronic organizers from Lacerte program. Not sure if the development team has heard from anyone else about the difficulties. I know I've mentioned it to a few customer service reps.Regards, Suzanne
Was told that Lacerte currently does not have option to have IRS auto withdraw Form 990PF estimated taxes. It does have option to withdraw balance due only. Just seems this should be an easy fix from programming standpoint for future years.
need separate input from form 1098-T box 1 and box 5 to produce IRS pub 970 worksheet 1-1 "Taxable Scholarship and Fellowship Grant Income to support Form 1040 schedule 1 line 8r
ProSeries does not generate an error message when foreign tax credit exceeds $300 single & $600 married joint total tax. Software allows input of the amount without forcing preparation of Form 1116.
Currently the federal quarterly estimated payments can only be E-filed along with federal return. I suggest we separate the functionalities. Use cases includes that I am not ready to file the return, but I want to file the federal quarterly estimated payment. The state quarterly payments are separated. This makes it easy to track and manage. For example, to answer the question: have I scheduled the estimated payments? Currently we have to go in to the return to find it out. Not to separate the functionalities can cause problems. For example, when I file amended return, if the quarterly estimated payments are selected, it will schedule the payments again.
