For many years, our client's with California grantor trusts have had to continue to file paper tax returns.  I just spoke with another tax preparer who uses the "Ultra tax" software program, and they have been able to e file California grantor trust tax returns for many years.  The FTB website further states that the FTB CAN accomodate e filing for Grantor Trust tax returns.  So, why after so many years, with so many of Lacerte's clients in California (probably the majority of Lacerte's customers are in California), doesn't Lacerte accomodate e filing for such a ridiculously simple form?  It's embarrasing when we have to tell client's that our software vendor is so outdated and behind that we can't e file such as simple tax return.  Obviously it can be done if your competitors are doing it.  WHY??????????

It would be easier to switch to UltraTax than have Lacerte listen to your suggestion to allow e-filing.

UT is very expensive, even more than Lacerte.
