Ability to add ProConnect Advance User role to a custom role designed for QBO accessesDiscussion ongoing

The only 3 choices for giving the Advance User role in ProConnect to someone is to select "Advance User with books admin", "Advance User with books access", and "Advance User" (no QBO access).  For our Office Manager, I created a custom role that included most accesses to our Firm's books, just not our banking and reporting (could not see bank balances and couldn't print a firm P&L).  We needed to add Advance User to her role so she could print returns, e-file when payment was received, etc.  In adding this, the only choice that even came close was the Advance User with books access, which by default allows her to see our firm's bank balances, print our P&L, etc... and DOES NOT allow any changes or customization to take away anything. I called ProConnect to see if they could add the Advance User role for ProConnect to a perfected, custom QBO role, and I was told this wasn't possible... That the roles available were designed with a purpose.  Intuit lists the suggested roles for "Advance User with Books Access" are tax admins, tax preparers and reviewers.  Does any firm owner want a tax admin or tax preparer to have the ability to view the firm's bank balances at any given time, or the ability to print the firm's P&L?  The answer is NO, in my humble opinion.  This needs to be an added feature to custom QBO roles immediately!

Notice of Automated Estimated Tax PaymentsNew

It would be really helpful if the system notified us of the prior year’s automatic estimated tax payments when starting a new return. A simple summary of last year’s scheduled and completed payments would make planning and accuracy much easier.

Re-invite process is klunky and not changing the Intuit Link view in Proseries ProNew

Had to edit an email address in Intuit Link.    It erased all the questions in the client's Link. Went to Proseries Pro to update the client. After updating, the Intuit Link column was still saying "View" not "Invite." During my hold time with the Proseries help line, I tried something and it worked. I saved the file under a new name. Got the "Invite" in Intuit Link column.   Deleted the old file.  Invited with the new file.   It worked. btw, The default questionnaire generated for Intuit Link is outdated by years. I have my own default questionnaire now. I use their checklist, but my updated default questionnaire.

critical e-file diagnosticsNew

We have used Lacerte for many many years now, highly disappointed this tax filing season with the critical e file diagnostics with forms being final but not the IRS instructions, and if you file the return without instructions being final it may cause an Amended return. Example form 8960Seriously we are end of February and refuse to e-file some clients because of this issue, we don't want to make extra work for ourselves.Our Associate in office uses Ultra Tax and he has been able to file clients with this 8960 form since the day tax season opened.come on Lacerte get your act together, we pay a lot of money for the software.

Special allocation of Part II of K3New

I am frustrated by the current limitations in Lacerte's handling of Schedule K-3. It is illogical that special allocations made on the K-1 do not synchronize with the K-3, and even more problematic that Part II cannot be manually adjusted. This defect prevents the software from producing a correct return for partnerships with special allocations. I request that your development team prioritize a fix for this in the upcoming system update to support automated flow and Part II overrides.

1120S NY Extensions do not print the TR-579.1-CTNew

When printing 1st Extensions for an 1120S, the e-file authorization form for NY, TR-579.1-CT, does not print with the 1st extension even though it needs to be signed when there is an automatic withdrawal of the franchise tax.  It has been like this as long as I can remember.  Please add this to the 1st extension print.

Enable sorting of the date on the client logNew

When I go to see if I've backed up the client, I have to scroll down to the bottom of the log.  It would be much more efficient if I could sort the date column so that the newest information is at the top.

Add a suggestion / diagnostic for no tax on tips being disallowed because it is a MFS return.New

The OBBB provisions are still new to all of us. It would have been helpful tonight to have a diagnostic in the suggestions section informing that the Tax on Tips deduction was disallowed because it was a MFS return. Because this was the first time I had tried to enter tips for a schedule C business owner, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to input when the real issue preventing Sch 1-A from populating was that it was a MFS return.Granted, I should have known this, but having a diagnostic in the suggestions section would have saved me time and saved the time of your help rep who had to also review to try to figure out why the form wouldn't populate.

Lacerte software ProblemNew

Tax Year 2024 Student Loan Interest entered in federal return transferred to Vermont state tax return Schedule IN-112, Part 1, Subtractions from Federal Adjusted Gross Income line 15a.  Tax Year 2025 the Student Loan Interest is suppose to transfer to IN-112, Part 1, Subtractions from Federal Adjusted Gross Income line16a.  It did not transfer to this form.  I had to manipulate the system in order to get the amount in the return correctly.

NYC forms are not ready! my firm is down to 50 percent returns compared to last year, even through last year was also delayed for a week.I called and representative had no clue what was going on, was not even capable of transferring me to a manager or someone who would have any idea what is happening. So yes, Proseries Professional is not very professional.

K-40H is calculating rollovers as taxable incomeNew

I have an elderly client on hospice.  He rolled over funds in 2025, but had very little taxable income.  The K-40H is pulling in all of his rollovers as if they were income received, and when I spoke to customer service they said that was correct by Kansas standards.  I understand the homestead refund included taxable and nontaxable income in the total income calculation, but how could they be pulling in rollovers to that income amount?

Lacerte creates files with same name in SmartVaultNew

For example - multiple Efile ACK letters, extensions, estimates, etc.  Have the same name - ie - e-file Acceptance Letter.  Print only once OK, but second letter overwrites first letter.Either give different letters or add multiples (1), (2), to the file name.If this isn't Lacerte - make SmartVault do it.

Intuit Link- Solving duplicate client accountsNew

I use Intuit Link and ProSeries. I need to be able to merge duplicate client accounts in Link.The best way to securely get a new client's SSN and other info is through Link, so the easiest thing to do is create them in Link, invite them, collect a W2, then create their account in Proseries with accurate, complete information. But when done in that order, the client will never have the great checklist FROM Proseries. Inviting the client from Proseries only creates a duplicate account. A potential workaround would be adding an *optional* SSN field on the Link edit client screen. If we could do that, then information sent from Proseries would match with the existing Link client. Link requires a unique SSN. This wouldn't help us fix the duplicates we already have, but would help immensely going forward.Thanks for reading this far! I'm sure I'm not the only one dealing with this.

Negative amounts on the retained earnings field on a Louisiana S corporation returnsNew

If line 26 of Balance Sheet on page 14 of the Louisiana S Corporation return has a negative amount, Pro Series throws up an error message. On a small corporation you could go to the federal form and elect to not present a balance sheet which will carryover to the Louisiana corporate form and eliminate the red flag. Then, you can submit the returns. But, if your corporation is too large and a balance sheet must be presented, then the only way to submit the return is to not engage the error check feature when conversion occurs. Alternatively, ProSeries could just have one of its programmers fix this error and save everyone a lot of worry. After all, we do pay a lot of money for this program.

Form 8825 Schedule A - Properties Column HeadingsNew

Form 8825 includes column headings for each rental activity reported on Form 8825 (A, B, C, D, etc.). The current release of Form 8825 Schedule A in Lacerte leaves these property column headings blank, and there is no way to manually enter which rental activity the other deductions relate to in the property column headings of Schedule A. This is less of an issue when there is only one rental activity, but it becomes problematic when there are multiple rental activities as this would require the use of more than one column on both the Form 8825 and the corresponding Schedule A.  There should be a way to identify which rental activity the other deductions on Schedule A are for in the property column headings. Is there a way for Lacerte to either: 1. automatically populate the property headings on Schedule A based on the corresponding property headings on the Form 8825 or 2. allow the user to manually input the property headings on the Schedule A?
