The form 706 does not calculate the Residue correctly. It does not deduct the specific gifts made to others prior to calculating the residue. Why not?
I am doing a projection in the tax planner. I have a client with qualified dividends and long term capital gains that is more than taxable income. As a result, the full amount of the taxable income should be taxed at preferential rates. I should be able to take the taxable income and subtract the amount of income taxed at 0% and then the remainder should be taxed at 15%. This is not what the planner is doing. I talked to a very helpful person at support and they are not able to determine how the planner is calculating tax but it is not doing the correct tax based on preferential income. I then did the calculation in the 1040 software and come up with the correct tax which makes me think the tax calculation in the planner is wrong. It looks like having Schedule C income with the qualified dividends and long term capital gain is causing an error in the calculation.
appointment information won't print on the organizer even having it checked on settings
To help with verifying the data in the returns, could you please provide us with GREEN checkmarks on each line of the forms beside the amounts so that we know we have already checked those items. Drake does it and it is a major time saver!
The software is creating an error on Form 5471, Schedule E-1, column (e) Line 6. The error states that this specific line item should tie to Schedule E, Part 1, Section 1, Line 6, Column (m). However the instructions to Form 5471, Schedule E-1, column e, Line 6 and the actual Form 5471 itself states that Line 6 should equal to Schedule E, Part 1, Section 2, Line 5, Column (i). I also would like to add that we do not have any information on Schedule E, Part 1, Section 2, Line 5, Column (i), as this section does not apply to them (so amount is $0), however the software is not allowing us to proceed with e-filing without inputting the amount the error window references, Schedule E, Part 1, Section 1, Line 6, Column (m). This amount is not correct, additionally because the amount it references is in functional currency and on the instructions to Schedule E-1 it states to enter amounts in US dollars.
If you are going to hardcode in a 20k adj to AGI that cant be override, you should say something. The lack of any notice makes one think the software is flawed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Thank you for wasting my time calling tech support to find out about your hidden FU
Diana from Virginia is truly an expert and was quite enjoyable on the phone. What I like best is the ability to dig into a problem, then go as deep as possible to solve it. Diana did/does that!Joe Brinzo61962
State e-file methods: standalone vs. piggyback (intuit.com)@intuit: Please add this to the error check process. That is, when one attempts to efile a state return and the Federal return has not been efiled or is not set up for efiling. That way, a preparer will know that the state return cannot be efiled.....despite clearing all error checks as the program is currently designed. Thank you.
It would be great if we could open more than one return at a time. For instance, an 1120S or a 1065 and a 1040. Going back and forth between the returns allows for mistakes when we are checking the impact of certain tax positions. Even the ability to open two 1040 returns at the same time would be nice- think student and parent.
Form 1116 Sch B should be automatically transmitted with the return without having to create and attach a pdf. My e-filing was rejected by the IRS because it was not attached as a pdf. The return passed final review and conversion without warning about this.
When a return is timely filed before the due date but then rejected and refiled after the due date (within 5 days), it is considered timely filed but there is no report on ProSeries that captures the date of the original filing that was timely. So I have no proof that it was timely filed. The e-fling acknowledgement reports only show the date of the corrected filing and not the complete history. Please include the complete history of transmissions so that I have proof of timely filing.
