Efile buttonDiscussion ongoing

When a client returns an efile electronically, the program places a button above the Forms tab  on the individual return screen.   If this button is accidentaly pushed there is no way to stop the efiling from happening.  I suggest the button be moved away from any other tabs or have a safety question to ask if you a sure you want to file these returns.

transfer old files to current softwareDiscussion ongoing

We deal with a few clients that skip years and we would like to carryover information from data over a year old to the current year. Sometimes these people would have completed returns elsewhere but then come back after 2-3 years and we just need to be able to carryover basic information instead of carry over through those multiple year or start a new client file.

2106 Vehicle Expense Organizer input pagesDiscussion ongoing

The 2106 Vehicle Organizer page should have a section at the top that notes what business or rental the auto information relates to.  It is almost impossible for clients to know which information relates to what form without a reference when there are multiple businesses or autos.  A simple box at the top showing the form the vehicle relates to would be great.  It has been this way for years so I am guessing the software engineers do not think this is important.  This change would allow us to get much better auto mileage information from clients.Thank you JB

1065 option to show capital account analysis on K-1s without forcing Schedules L, M-1, and M-2 also.Discussion ongoing

On a 165 partnership return where you are opting out of including Schedules L, M-1, and M-2 on the return, most tax software allows you to still show the capital account analysis on K-1s.  Please give us a way to output the capital account analysis on K-1s, but still opt out of using Schedules L, M-1, and M-2.

Wrong state selected with the program and having issues adjustingNew

The initial representatives provided me good service but our time elapse because of a meeting I had. The next one, from Customer service didn't care about me or my issues, but only to tell me that it was too late to fix the issue when the previous Technical service rep said it could be adjusted. So I hung up and called back and asked for the customer service for the technical side and was hand held through the process. The last tech rep provided me and understood the issue I was having, and went through proper channels to request permission and guidance to rectify the issue, Now i can use the product as I need to.

incorrect password on password protected pdf's generated through lacerteNew

Clients return pdf's that are not able to be opened on their phones. It aparently will work if opened on a pc. many clients no longer have a pc.Has lacerte addressed this issue??? Will They???I'm sure they will blame it on RightNetworks who then blames it on Lacerte????

INVOICE Colorado K1 pricing per K1New

Dear LacerteI price my returns per form; I also price per K1.You allow me to enter this into the invoicing for the feds, for California, for Arizona...But I don't have the option to set a price for the Colorado DR 0106K.Please fix this!  it must be an oversignt.When billing per form, every K1 I don't bill for means money out of my pocket; fortunately I reviewed my invoice and saw that the billing was missing!Thanks.

CA pass through entity tax- Disregarded SMLLCDiscussion ongoing

The individual module is used for SMLLC filings of a disregarded entity. The IRS wants the income reported on Sch C, CA wants a partnership return on form 568. These business owners qualify for the pass-through entity tax credit, however, there are no inputs in the individual module for CA form 3893 to allow current or estimated payments. The partnership module has it available, but it forces  the filing of a IRS form 1065, against their guidance for disregarded entities and changes income reporting from SCH C to SCH E pg 2Please bring the functionality of the partnership module to the individual module with respect to the pass-through entity tax payments and automate it to roll-forward year after year. There are quite a few returns for SMLLC, disregarded entities that this applies to.

Support PTE Election for Hawaii & E-filing N-35Discussion ongoing

Please support the PTE (pass through entity) election for Hawaii as well as efiling of the N-35 S-Corp return.  Even if a client received an e-filing exemption, the software should allow us to check the appropriate boxes on the N-35 and, at a minimum, manually complete and attach the N-362E (Pass-Through Entity Tax Election) Schedule PTE and Schedule PTE-U.  Ideally, these should be in the software. The PTE election is a great benefit to the many Hawaii S-corps and partnerships for their shareholders and partners.

Fix e-filing program errors for Federal Form 5227 and PA-41New

Your program attempts to attach Form 1041 to Form PA-41 according to the PA instructions, but you should not do that. The trusts I prepare returns for must file federal Form 5227, NOT Form 1041. Thus Form 1041 technically does not exist (even though your software prepares it, for some reason that makes no sense to me). Since Form 1041 should not be prepared for Charitable Remainder Trusts, it should NOT be attached to Form PA-41. And yet your software apparently tries to do so. It is a nightmare to go through this every year, taking twice as long to get through the filing process as it does to prepare the returns. PLEASE, PLEASE fix this error and make it possible to file federal Forms 5227 and Pennsylvania Form PA-41 without jumping through hoops and causing me and your phone reps to spend hours to understand what is going on. Also, please correct your client screen of e-filed returns. It has three lines for each Charitable Remainder Trust: US ReturnUS-STI ReturnPA ReturnWhat in the world is "US-STI Return"? That phrase is not explained anywhere that I could find, after several searches. It appears to be Federal Form 5227, but if that's what it is, why not say so?I am generally pleased with your system but don't understand why this headache can't be resolved by some seemingly simple software programming. Stop trying to attach something to PA-41 that doesn't exist. Forms 1041 do not exist and are not prepared for Charitable Remainder Trusts, thus they cannot be sent -MUST NOT BE SENT - to Pennsylvania.I made this request last year but nothing happened. This forum is where the Lacerte phone rep sent me to provide feedback to Lacerte regarding program errors. If this is not the right venue, please let me know how to make this appeal in the correct channel.Sincerely, Tim

For Schedule C - have a way to jump to the other expense section from line 27a, and the same for the cost of goods on line 4. To be able to jump right to the section would be great and save from having to scroll all the way down to those sections

Once I mark a  or question as complete, I don’t need to see it a them again. it would be great if I could filter the list so I only need to concentrate on the items that need to be worked on.

California County needs to be available to list as a column on the Client Display ScreenNew

The California County that a Client lives in needs to be available to list as a column on the Client Display screen.  For the last 2 years we have had automatic extensions granted to Clients in specific counties & we need to be able to see which Clients are affected by the relief.  The column you currently have available listed as 'California Disaster County' found under miscellaneous is not accurate for the current year & is therefore unusable.  Please add the California County as a field that can be added to the Display Columns so that we can manage our clients in the Disaster relief zones.  Thank you.

Control Autofill data in ProconnectNew

Tax pros should be able to access the stored information that Proconnect tries to autofill in fields such as Bank account name, Employer name (w2 input), and Local addresses for Pennsylvania firms like us.The local addresses could save us countless hours, but when we select one from the drop down now, the address is nonsense and there's no way to access the saved data where the nonsense is pulling from.We should also be able to turn off the option to have it try to repopulate in banking related screens, because it changes the routing number to another clients, if you pick "Wells Fargo" or "Chase" as an example.

Community Property inputNew

I noticed various boxes and decision fields throughout the program input screens. I doubt that I have noticed all of them. I suggest placing all of them in one location to make it more organized and efficient to do MFS returns. I prepare California returns.

Complexity rating of a tax ReturnNew

It would be nice to have a section where we can rate the tax return based upon the complexity of the return so that the preparers on my team will have an idea of how easy or difficult a return may be before starting it.

Form 3468 fix to line 2aNew

I would like your software writers would make form 3468, line 2a, optional.  After researching the instructions and going online to apply for the IRS registration number, I find that in some cases, this registration number is not applicable.  This IRS registration number is for non-profit taxpayers electing to take a tax payment or transfer the credit to another entity.  It doesn't apply to small facilities generating less than 1 megawatt of clean energy.  I was instructed to override the efile diagnostics then efile.  Really don't like this.  This was for federal form 1120.

Prep for taxesNew

Hello,The current 1040 organizer includes page 56.261 for Colorado Contributions.  I don't think the current Colorado individual income tax form includes an option to make donations to Colorado charities anymore.  Some clients indicate amounts on this page but I can't do anything with them in the current program.  Would you please delete this organizer page?Thank you!
