EXCESS MORTGAGE INTEREST - WORKSHEETS TO STATEMENTSNew

Excess mortgage interest continues to be a pointing place for auditors.  Currently, Lacerte will prepare the calculations on the general worksheets which is great.  But, it would be nice to have the option to decide with worksheets we want to be included in statements or provided with the return.  Having a copy print with the return will allow easy review of the calculation with the client when reviewing returns.  Further, the calculation of the mortgage limitation, the average balance calculation, and the interest allocations allowed/disallowed, etc would then be immediately available and separate from the other worksheet items.

Schedule BNew

Return the ability to enter interest income items such as purchased interest, amortization of premium paid on bonds, etc. on the face of the Schedule B Smart Worksheet and NOT on the subsequent page.  The current system does not give comfort that the entry is correct - everything can't be a positive number, yet that seems to be the current situation.  This change was a disaster to the tax preparer - imagine what we had to go through when instructing staff on this idiotic change in data entry.

Importing Grant Information to 990-PFNew

We are a large grantmaking non-profit Foundation with a couple hundred grants and awards that we are required to disclose in our return. Now that we have to E-File it is imperative that we list all our grants awarded instead of attaching a separate document via PDF since the IRS is unable to process the PDF in publicly available copies of our return for future investor reference. If there would be an option to import our grants into ProSeries on Part XIV from a CSV or other type of simplified text file, it would make this type of reporting and record-keeping much easier and transparent going forward.

Return Name in Esignature dashboardNew

I work with the Lacerte software.  I see that in the ProConnect, the esignature dashboard shows return name.  Currently, for Lacerte, it only shows the name of the individual to whom the envelope was sent, client number, etc.  Would be nice if the return name was also an option.

Enable generating zero schedules for Form 5471New

Please enable generating schedules with zero input for Form 5471.The IRS instructions say: When a schedule is required but all amounts are zero, the schedule should still be filed with one or more zero amounts.So, for instance, if there are no distributions between a US person and the foreign subsidiary in a year, a preparer would need to generate Form 5471 Schedule R with no information. However, PTO shows a critical diagnostic and does not allow filing without entering an amount and date. There is a workaround to write "none" for the description and "12/31/2023" for the date. However, this shouldn't be a mandate as per IRS instructions.

Lacerte sogtware should prapre worksheet for NYS PTET calculationNew

NYS PTET calcualtion should be done automatically once retrun is prepared. In Lacerte, Currently ,we have to enter the amount manually. Other software such as Ultra tax caluclates and print wrksheet which can be used to enter the figures in NYS website.

summary report calendar and mathNew

For years the summary report is not mathmaetically correct and the calendar does not represent a real calendar. Last column should be 4/15 to 10/15 not Dec 31. Then a new column of 10/16 to 12/31 should be created. The info above this incorrect information is great.

Please add new Oregon Subtraction CodesNew

Schedule F Two-Year ComparisonNew

I would like to see a Schedule F Two-Year Comparison, just like there are for other business activities on Schedules C & E.  It's a little awkward with a new Schedule F client who was always able to get the comparison from his previous accountant and I have to explain to the new client that I cannot provide that with my Intuit Tax Software.

6251 AMT Adjustments for intangible drilling costs not flowing to line 2t from Partnership line 13jNew

Intangible drilling costs from line 13j on screen 20.1 should be flowing to the 6251 line 2t. Per the F1 help statement for Partnership screen 20.1 line 13j "If these expenses are deducted in full in the current year, they are treated as an adjustment or tax preference item for alternative minimum tax. Generally section 59(e)(2) allows the partner to amortize the expense over a number of years to avoid the Alternative minimum tax adjustment."The only way to get the amt to 6251 line 13j is from screen 40 Intangible Drilling Costs [A].

Please add the compliance for the corporate transparency act. You must file your Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Report within 90 days of your approved business registration.This new federal law took effect on January 1st, 2024, to provide transparency to the government of all beneficial owners of the business.You must file this report on time to avoid hefty $500 daily fees for non-compliance.Learn more about the Act and why you must file your BOI Report. I think Lacerte as a world class manufacturer of tax software should provide input screens to satisfy this new requirement. I would appreciate it if the software development team would pay some attention to this.  This is a FINCEN filing and you already do the FIBAR report.  So I think you should be able to add this as an IMPROVEMENT TO THE PROGRAM. Thank you.Steven Gore,

Currently, if you mark a client as complete in Intuit Link, there is no way to change the status back to In Progress.  I accidentally hit complete on one client and now there's no going back.

2023 PA MA Calculation Challenge: 63d ELT lines 1 to 13New

I received an email with regards to case which is yet to be resolved.  I was told by your representative that this a calculation challenge which may or may not be accurate , yet this is the only direction I received.  You state in the email that Mass ordinary income is entered from US line 22 and the instructions for 63d- elt does not contract the main form instructions. This is not the case, line 1 to 13 instructions state the amount should reflect the aggregate sum of the share of income the member have elected PTE. To me, this means that we can allocate the amount that we elected to be deem eligible for PTE. A perfect example is the client.  We elected PTE entity for both mass and RI. RI is being calculated correctly and MA is taking the entire amount. The program should allow for modifications either on line1 or 12. Otherwise, the same income is being subject to PTE twice, once in RI and again in Mass, which should not be the case.  Alternatively, we can elect MA PTE tax and pay the entire amount to Mass and zero to RI.  This would result an overpayment for MA and underpayment for RI on the partner’s tax return, which make no sense and will be subject to penalties and interest for underpayment

Save settings for each year in softwareNew

One of the things that can be time consuming each year is redoing all of my settings for each module.  It would be nice if those settings would proforma from the prior year - it would definitely save some time and make sure things are consistent.

Since ProConnect and Lacerte have the same engine, can we also bring in the screen numbers?New

Lacerte has screen numbers that make navigation so much easier when training employees. Has ProConnect considered bringing this to the platform? It seems like a simple adjustment to the current set-up that would help previous Lacerte users get acclimated quicker to ProConnect Tax.

Texas Franchise Combined Reporting, suppress 05-166 - critical diagnostic 60174New

Requesting to please urgently re- issue the check box for Combined Reporting that allowed to suppress the Form 05-166.  We found the box on 4/3/2024 (see snip below for evidence of its temporary existence):I tested this in one of my partnership returns that was under the "no tax due" filing threshold and had both a reporting entity and affiliate entity.  That day - 4/3/2024 - the partnership Texas Combined Report (only the 2 Forms 05-102) were filed and accepted by Texas through Lacerte utilizing the check box above.  We let the rest of our firm know to do this and very quickly - the box just disappeared.  It has never come back and we are on the most recent release of 44.0418.  Yes - I know we can do "mock" returns for the affiliates and file under there.  Or we could web file on the Texas Web File, but why did Lacerte add and then remove this ability to file successfully in the program itself?  And why can't this be added back?  It's 4/19/20247 and the Texas Reports are due 5/15/2024.  This is an urgent issue to be resolved.  Many thanks for your time and consideration of such a critical and important filing need.

E file attachment menu should show form 8949 support in form 1041  software. There is menu support on form 1040 e file attachments and this is very common on form 1041's as well.

Keep Login Windows TogetherNew

First the blue rectangle appears - "Intuit ProSeries Tax" - when launching the program. Next, the login window appears. Hopefully. In my case most of the time, the login window will pop up on my primary monitor (not the monitor I'm using ProSeries on), and it will pop up behind all the other windows. I can sit there forever waiting for that login window, not realizing that it has popped up and I just can't see it. Now of course that I've realized that this is what it does, I know to look there. But it would be so much easier if you could tell the program to keep those windows together on the same monitor.
