N. Dakota form 1041 needed in software programNew

Intuit needs to develop software to file form 1041 for N. Dakota. Several estates and trusts have mineral interests in N Dakota and we need the support for filing in that state for trusts and estates.

ohio school district returnNew

there was a major rewrite of the Ohio School District Return in 2023,  apparently  you now have to choose to efile the Ohio School District Return on the federal inforrmation page - too bad you didn't advise your Ohio preparers of that - when I converted my returns from 2022 to 2023 I had no idea I had to go in there and choose to also file the school district - now  non of my school distrct returns efiled in 2023 and I have to either have them mailed in or file as an amended return.  A quick line in the whats new in Ohio this year should would have been nice

When adding a beneficiary or information about a dependent, instead of being able to pick the beneficiary dependent from a drop down, you have to add their information again.

ProConnect - Client DataNew

The Client area does not allow for first names of both the taxpayers.  First this is a problem when you are going to call a client and need to know the spouse’s name.   Second, a problem for greeting on the Engagement letter.  We had to update each Engagement letter in the Intuit Link to include both taxpayers’ names.   Thirdly, It was a problem on any exported list.. it only included the one name as the name of the client.  They are many times we interact with the spouse who is listed second on the tax return more often than the person who is listed first.  We also have some same name clients.  It is hard, at a glance, to tell the difference between clients without the spouse’s name listed too.

The set-up and sending out emails took a long time.   While working in the Intuit Link, the ProConnect program does not seem to recognize activity, so work was not saved, and we had to stop and refresh many times to get Intuit link emails out.

There should be a way for our company to turn off reminder emails.   This upset many clients.   They did not understand to mark themselves as Complete.   We need a way to do this for them.  Also, the reminder emails don’t allow them to start the process, they have to go back to the original invitation.   We were not aware of this until recently.

I am proconnect user. I would a way for a customer/client to see completed tax returns for that last couple of years. I am tired of printing the pdf or sharing a link. Some kind of portal or website. They do not want to go IRS and get the transcripts. They need these tax returns for different things and I am getting ready to downsize and potentially hang up the tax business.

SELF EMPLOMENT INCOME REPORTED AS MISC INCOME-NOT ON SCH C``New

Lacerte has a real flaw in that if you have someone who gets a 1099-NEC and reports that as self emploment income under the miscellaneous Income screen, and since they have no expenses to claim, they do not file a schedule C, but merely report it this way, Lacerte does not recognize that for purposes of the QBI section 199A deduction. Clients can only get the deduction by reporting on a schedule C, even if they have no expenses. TO ME THIS IS A FATAL SYSTEMIC ERROR THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY.

Allow checkmark on Tax Summary in LacerteNew

It would be helpful, as a reviewer, to be able to put the green review checkmark by the numbers in the Federal and State Tax Summary pages.  The checkmark is available for statements, worksheets and forms, so why not for the tax summaries?  The summaries are the first pages I use in the return review process.

Under IRS Notice 2014-7 certain Medicaid Waiver Payments may be excludable from income. Normally, taxpayers receive these payments through w2 or 1099-MISC. Like other tax software if ProSeries add a Box Titled "Medicaid Waiver Payment" in w2 and 1099 Misc worksheet it will be more convenience and save us a lot of time. Since Medicaid waiver payments can be includable or excludable to calculate EIC, if ProSeries add another box in w2 and 1099-MISC titled "Do you want to include Medicaid Waiver Payments in the calculation of EIC?" so we can choose Yes/No as needed. In order to enter Medicaid waiver payment in current ProSeries system, we need to calculate total wages manually that taxpayer receives from all w2s/1099 Misc under Medicaid waiver and then enter this amount in Other income as a negative balance. For the EIC calculation in current system, we need to change earned income amount manually in EIC worksheet back and forth to check maximum tax refund.

TN bill SB2103/HB1893 that needs TN franchise tax amendments for 2021-2023New

TN has passed franchise tax bill SB2103/HB1893 that allows S corporations, partnerships with TN franchise taxes to file amendments for 2021-2023 and seek a refund. The due date provided for this by TN is upto November 30, 2024. Will need Lacerte's help with product updates to do the amendments of TN franchise tax for clients.If there is anything needed, please feel free to reach me at pattyhk@krishnanco.com

Hide Tax Preparer PTIN on client copy of returnsNew

I just reviewed a return from another tax preparer who utilizes Drake Software.The client copy had the Tax Preparer's PTIN information XXXXX out.This is a GREAT information security option as tax preparers are regularly having their identity compromised by "bad actors".Thank you in advance for following up on this idea which would be SO appreciated by tax preparers who utilize Lacerte software. Jennifer

Seems to be a difference in the way Lacerte calculates the 2210 worksheet.  IRS sent back their worksheet and they compound the amount to be penalized instead of using just the seperate qtr amounts that lacerte is using.  For examply Qtr 1 is correctly calculated but 2nd qtr instead of calculating on just the amount from that qtr they add in the amount from 1st qtr as well making for a substantial difference in amount owed.

Please make the 1065 program capable of filing an AAR for the partnership, not just for a pass-through held by the partnership.   IRS requires Forms 8985 and 8986 when submitting an AAR.  Lacerte should include these basic forms.

Our firm has as a setting that estimated tax payments for the following year round to the next $100.  The client copy of the return and the organizer show the correct amounts we gave the client to pay or set up to pay electronically.Why would the proforma program ignore our setting and change the estimates to the exact amount due versus what we told them to pay?  We get bunches of letters from the IRS and CO on this and we should not have to open the prior year's return or compare the organizer to the amounts on the screen and change every entry! It also renders the input field to treat all vouchers as paid useless.

On IT 201, Part 1, Section 2a, NYS that box should be greyed out.I entered earnings for federal and nys and it shows excess contributions when added to the actual contribution which flows to IT201, line 30.My client now owes taxes and interest because of this overstatement of contributions for 2021.

8949 Entry Bulk DeleteNew

Add a bulk delete function, as in other software. If you happen to import a large data set, then need to re-do the information for some reason, as far as I see, you must delete each transaction on the 8949 individually (unless I am missing something).  As such, I would never load more than 15-20 transactions into Proconnect. I suppose that with the flexible ability to attach separate statements, etc., this is somewhat less a problem than in years past, but still limiting
