It would be great to have a tickmark on most important input screen. It is a great tool for a reviewer to check off fields that were reviewed.

Diagnostics - To Do: Missing ItemsNew

It would be great to see this tool under Diagnostics for Missing Items not addressed on current return compared to prior return. It can be called To Do - it is a great tool for a preparer and reviewer to contact client for any missing items. For example, diagnostic will determine that prior year had Insurance listed on schedule E and there is non on current return.

TEXT BOX FOR USE IN ENTERING THE PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR FORM 990 DOES NOT FUNCTION LIKE A WORD DOCUMENTNew

The text box for entering the Program Service Accomplishments in the 990 module should function like a Word document. First the area should be fixed in width and length. This approach of grabbing the right corner to modify the typing area does not function very well. Use the same approach as this text box. It's fixed in width. Second, once text is pasted in the box creating paragraphs or editing them is very difficult. Very often the final text on the return form looks like one large paragraph. It shiould look just as professional as the rest of the return. Currently, I have to use a Microsoft Word document for reporting Program Service Accomplishments on the returns I do just so they will look more presentable. Third, there are not text editing options. Just the like the buttons currently displayed just above this text box, the user should have the same options. This particular program feature needs improvement!

2022 Schedule OR-K-1Discussion ongoing

Lacerte 2022 does not have 2022 Schedule OR-K-1 available for partnership returns.  The Help Desk just confirmed this.  He said Oregon is the only state partnership where you can't get a K-1.  If our firm has paid for authorization to file Oregon partnership returns, we should have access to all the basic forms.

Direct Deposit on State returnsNew

I strongly recommend, once again for next tax season, that on State Returns, especially NJ returns, on the Information Worksheet Part VIII, Direct Deposit, the YES or No boxes should be left blank and to give us an error that a box needs to be checked off.  Such an easy fix.  And while doing so, remove having to check YES or NO on Worksheet K, Use Tax Calculation.  Just check off NO like you do in the Direct Deposit Section. I know for me, I'm checking off NO 100 percent of the time.  Just a wasted, unnecessary step to take.  Thank you!!.

When esignature is used for a client with a two word last name, esignature/lacerte uses only the second word of the last name instead of the first word, ie... Van Pletsen shows up Pletsen instead of Van Pletsen as it should.

Your inuit link site has some major issues. We noticed several times during tax season that a client would upload docs to intuit link, then the document would be missing from the request tab but would be under the documents tab. How come those two tabs don't show the same uploaded docs. Sounds like something is wrong. While you are at link the check boxes on both tabs to when a document is downloaded from either tab, it can be marked as done and the check box status is the same on all tabs for that item.

Feedback - Efiling 2020 Returns Before May 17th Deadline Not AllowedNew

I am extremely disappointed by Lacerte's failure to allow 2020 tax returns/amended returns to be electronically filed through the May 17th deadline.  I understand the normal deadline always falls around April 15th, but the 2020 tax return deadline was postponed until May 17th for the entire country.  It's not like the past couple of years where only certain area deadlines were postponed due to natural disasters.  The 2020 deadline was postponed for the entire U.S. population.  The Lacerte article link sent to me by the tech support agent (https://accountants.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/electronic-filing/e-file-start-stop-dates-federal-returns/L4WWMC4sS_US_en_US) states that 2020 returns can't be efiled during the annual IRS shutdown, when no returns are allowed to be efiled.  But it doesn't state anywhere in that article that 2020 returns are not allowed to be efiled after April 15, 2024.  And in fact, the IRS released guidance yesterday (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-final-reminder-time-to-claim-1-billion-in-tax-refunds-from-2020-expires-may-17) that 2020 returns will be accepted until May 17, 2024.  For as much money as Lacerte charges for licenses, I expected much more.

The program prints the deposit bank info, but not the withdrawal info.  This is a way the client can be sure that money will be deducted from the correct bank account.

Display payment method Fed and State before submitting returnNew

When selecting returns to Efile, it would be great if the payment method or refund method be displayed.  It will be a quick confirmation before submitting in one window.  Oftentimes, I forget to check off direct deposit and the check is mailed.  Before submitting return, if the window can confirm direct deposit, mailed paper check or Voucher to pay tax, Direct debit would be great.

Texas franchise e-filing for public information report requirement below revenue thresholdNew

This year we were not allowed to e-file the required Texas franchise report when the revenue was under $2,470,000, due to new filing changes by the state. We had to manually go online to our state accounts and file the required Public Information Reports for our clients. Please work with the state of Texas to allow tax preparers to be able to e-file this form through Lacerte.

Confirm efile 1040ES estimated tax payment was submittedDiscussion ongoing

In the NY module, there is a table with the submission and confirmation of each of the four quarterly estimated taxes that were scheduled to be paid electronically. I would love to have such a table to confirm that the estimate went through okay on the federal side as well. I understand that we can't be sure it was actually paid unless we look at the bank statements but I would feel much more comfortable being able to confirm to my client that it was submitted.

Per form charge automation like ProseriesNew

I charge per form on my practice. Prior to switching to Proconnect, I used Proseries Professional. I like the per form feature Proseries has where at the beginning of the tax season I can input my prices on specific tax forms. When I'm done completing a tax return the software automatically have all the forms that was used for the return along with the price and the total. With Proconnect I have to manually input every form and price line by line. Automation is the future and it feels like I went back ward when I switch from Proseries to Proconnect.

We need to manually input 110 building bins on screen number 21 of the partnership module in order to prepare Form 8906-A to calculate the low income housing tax credit.  Can you make it possible for us to import the data from an Excel spreadsheet so we do not have to manually input it into Lacerte ?

Need a Section S199 A override on Fiduciary Return with several beneficiaries to facilitate allocation of the S199A dividends in percentages different from the overall income!  We have a trust with separate accounts for different beneficiaries.  We spoke with Hugh from Mississippi and he accessed the trust return so your programmers could discuss this with him.  Time is of the essence!

Client Lookup When Starting A New ReturnDiscussion ongoing

I have used programs that automatically checked for clients with matching name/SSN/DOB when starting a new return. the main screen had options like start a new return, resume return in progress, check submitted returns and at the bottom was a listing of returns. When you clicked on one of the options at the top, it brought up a small window to enter name, SSN, & DOB. When you hit submit, if there was already a return started that matched, it came up and you clicked on it and finished the return. If there were no matching returns started, but the info matched a file from previous years, you had the option to start the return with last years info or start a new file and if it didn't match anything, you selected filing status, clicked ok, then the return opened in a new screen. I don't know how many hours I have wasted completing an entire return just to find out that one had already been started. It is VERY frustrating.

Automatic estimated payment 1040xNew

I recently submitted a 1040x for a client that had automatic estimated quarterly payments set up for the IRS in the return. I was unaware that I needed to unmark those estimated payments prior to efiling an amended return . As a result, the client is now having estimated payments pulled twice. I suggest the programmers create a way to cross check that before you efile to prevent issues like this from happening. Maybe make the items red so you have to confirm you want to submit the automatic estimated quarterly payments again on a 1040x.Thank you for your consideration. Katharine
