Build better products with our product team
When we encounter an issue with Proconnect, we contact support. The support team is very proficient at helping with tasks such as where to enter a client's name, address, and social security number. However, more complex issues often need to be escalated and followed up, which currently lacks a proper mechanism.Support will direct us to post on this idea board. However, this board is merely for feedback and no action is taken unless the issue becomes popular. Posts that do not receive 50 votes will be archived. While some issues may be less common, they are critical for those affected and need resolution. When asked to create a case, support agents often respond that they cannot. They also claim they are not tax professionals and do not fully understand the issues. This is puzzling since Proconnect is designed for tax professionals. Shouldn't support for tax professionals have at least the same level of expertise, just like a teacher should know as much as the students in order to teach?Additionally, promises that the development team will follow up by email are often unmet. For example, I have never received a response on conversation 15116234889 and have no visibility into its status, rendering the reference number practically useless, and the issue remains in the limbo. Due to this inadequate support, many of my issues remain unresolved. If you are experiencing the same situation, please vote FOR this idea. Once a post receives 50 votes, it cannot be deleted, so this post can at least serve as a reminder for them. Thank you!
I am a Annual Filing Season Tax Preparer. I have several clients that operate farms and other businesses. For those clients I have an Excel Spreadsheet that lists their farm equipment and other depreciable assets. The reason is that the general description field in proseries is too short to have a complete description and serial number so that when I perform a fixed asset inventory, which I do every three years for the client I can properly identify the assets. General accepted accounting principles recommend this and the IRS wants to make sure that assets that are being depreciated are in existence and serving the business purpose. Ghost assets are a risk to anyones business and the serial number field would be very beneficial, especially when you have tractor or other equipment of the same model and make used on the same farm. It is not uncommon. It would be useful for other businesses as well, because in many instances depreciation is the largest expense even though it is a non-cash item. Plus in many instances it is subject to depreciation recapture. I am certainly open for discussion on this subject. Thanks Jerry [Removed]
One simple change: Allow additions to the client letter, just like Lacerte. One previous post suggested this and it shows "implemented". I don't show any changes to the letter. Explain please.
Help is difficult to find. If you go to help>contents and search, you can almost never find what you need. I clicked on "LaCerte Support Site" and typed in "amended california form 568", several pages of unrelated topics came up. I called LaCerte support and between the two of us, we finally figured it out. It seems like this happens to me whenever I need help.
I've recently set up 8 different custom client letters in our database report section so that I can e-mail them out to our clients as needed. The goal is to have the letters print from Lacerte to the client's Smart Vault file folder so that we have a copy of the letter and when it was sent out for signature. What is happening you ask? If I need to send the client 3 letters (a notification letter, an engagement letter and a mgmt. rep letter) they are overwriting each other because the "name of the letter" (Client Notify Ltr, P'ship Eng Ltr, Client Care Ltr) is not carrying over to Smart Vault. The name of the letter is a generic name, 2023 Partnership Client Number (Client Name) DatabaseReportsLetters. Because it does not pick up the name of the "custom letter" it overwrites the first letter with the new letter and keeps the generic name. This makes no sense to me, Lacerte & Smart Vault are meant to work together to make our lives a little less hectic! Sure I can go in and rename the letters one by one, which is what I have been doing, but the programs should be able to distinguish each "custom letter" and name it as such. The idea is to process all work from the client's Smart Vault folder. What are your thoughts on the matter? Has anyone had this issue? Neither Lacerte or Smart Vault has given me a reason as to why the programs are not picking up the "custom name" of the letters. I've gotten, change the name after printing to Smart Vault so they don't overwrite each other. This is not a proper solution!Lacerte please focus on resolving this issue! My fellow community VOTE in favor of having this issue corrected. At some point, each of our clients will receive 5 of the 8 letters without a doubt. Thanks, have a great day!
I use the Taskbar to start the program. I have various years in the taskbar and it would be nice if I could differentiate based on the number and on COLOR.
Hello Please implement the exporting of the basis limitation and Form 7203 for members/shareholders when the K-1 is exported to the individual level. Also, it would be optimal to have a critical/informational diagnostic as a reminder if the basis limitation/Form 7203 is not completed for a K-1 at the individual level.Thank you
