It would be helpful to have more than one tax type open in the same year.  For instance Individual and S-Corporate module at the same time.

eSigned Status - Upper BarNew

I know it might be an anomaly, as I filed over 2300 amended returns this season (legislation passed) and the upper left hand status bar shows the total number of eSigned.  When you click on that it pulls all the returns that have been e-signed.  However, it rejects half or more of mine as invalid and asks "do you want to continue to file these that are amended returns" Why not create a separate button for AMENDED e-Signed 8879s that are ready for Filing and then engage the "amended filing routine" rather than having me comb through the amended vs non amended. Also what about being able to clear the bar since some of the ones that are e-signed get rejected and have to then be a paper filing.  However, they are still included in the count there....

eSig StatusNew

This section is great unless you have sent multiple to a taxpayer to sign.  If, for whatever reason, I have had to issue multiple esigs to a client NO LONGER can I tell if they have signed since the status goes to "multiple" The status should show the last recorded action (voided, sent or sign, efiled etc).  The status Multiple sucks as it made me miss many signatures that had been returned.

Do Not Mail on documentsNew

The DO NOT MAIL that automatically prints when the social security number has been masked.  Can it be expounded on and in a smaller font so that it doesn't interfere with the signature line on the 8879s?I recommend "Do not mail to the IRS as the social security numbers are masked"  Maybe it would cut down the phone calls we receive regarding this.  OR better yet take it off the 8879, the letter, etc.

Partnership & S-Corp CollationNew

I have several clients who have many different Partnerships & S-Corporations as part of their 1040 returns.  I tend to print completed input sheets for my use as where I put my data before entry into the computer (a manual check for me).  When I get the input sheets for the Partnerships/S-Corps, they are always all of the page 1s, then all the page 2s, then all the page 3s, etc.  This makes an additional, time-consuming manual task of collating.  Would it be possible to have these items come out already collated?  Thank you.

Multi-State K-1 IssuesNew

Multi-state K-1s don't export into other modules with the State information. If we split it in the Partnership or S Corp for apportionment purposes, I don't want to do it again in the imported K-1 screen. Currently, all K-1 imported entries show as U.S. entries instead of the states.

Post 2017 Net Operating Loss LimitationDiscussion ongoing

The program doesn't automate the limitation of post-2017 net operating losses to 80% of taxable income.  Please have the program do this calculation as it is something the program should handle (and other tax programs do calculate it.) There have been multiple comments on the Lacerte forum about this issue.  Thank you

Identity Protection PIN IPPIN Exporting and Diagnostic in Subsequent Lacerte ProgramDiscussion ongoing

Identity Protection PINs are something that is going to be the norm as opposed to being a rare occurrence now that everyone can get them and the IRS is recommending that taxpayers get them.Two things Lacerte should add relating to IP PINS.1) Create an informational diagnostic in the subsequent year if the taxpayer, spouse or dependent had and IP PIN in the prior year.  This will be huge so we don't have to try to track down the IP PIN after the tax return rejects.2) Many of our clients now have IP PINS and will have to log onto the IRS website each January to obtain the IP PIN for that filing year.  It would be great if there was an exportable field for the IPPINS so that we can run a report with the people who have IP PINS so that we can send them a letter or a postcard reminding them to log into the IRS website to obtain the new IP PIN.

Import depreciation for a 990 tax return. How is this not available? The ability is there on all other return types.New

Why can I not upload the depreciation schedule into a 990 tax return?  The feature is available on all other tax forms.  Now I have to manually enter in 150 assets.

Allow EACH federal tax estimates to be paid individually electronically using estimated tax payment wizardNew

I find it really helpful that we are allowed to cue up most state estimated tax payments individually for payment using the estimated tax payment wizard.  I would like this same feature to be offered for federal estimated tax payments.  Right now the only way to electronically pay federal estimates for the next year from inside Lacerte is to file the prior year tax return.  This is NOT helpful to our clients in any way, if our clients extend their tax returns until October. There are many good reasons to extend an individual tax return until October but we need to be able to help our clients stay current on their next year federal estimates.

program updateNew

I like the automated updates but the method of notification as entering the client data page or upon creating a new client has led to errors. If only there were an indication somewhere that there was an update available so I had a chance to update first before I induced the error. I could check for updates every single time I entered something but that would insanely time consuming, and a lot of my time is wasted with technical BS already. The technology needs to help us out a little bit if it's going to do so much for us. Thanks.

extension payments should automatically transfer to payments screenNew

There are two issues I'm seeing: Payments made with extensions - Federal and State - don't transfer to the payments screen. It's as if it never happened.I have to manually verify that the "Electronic payment of tax due with extension" was checked and then enter that in the payments screen.If I set up estimated quarterly taxes via account debit, these also don't automatically transfer to the payments screen. We shouldn't have to manually confirm that estimated or extension payments were made. I missed one and accidentally told a client he owed more than he did. He asked about the extension payments he made. I double checked and found we did make payments with the extensions. As a result he owed significantly less. Proconnect should know payments were made.That was needlessly embarrassing.

S Corp - K-1 And Form 7203New

When K-1 from S Corp has a loss, and shareholder has no stock or debt basis,  Form 7203 is calculating correctly, but Form 1040 is deducting the loss against ordinary income, when loss allowed should be $0, and it should be carried forward

Quick Entry of Grants and Allocations Bus (990, Sch I)New

I would like to suggest a couple of ideas, both of which I just discussed with Christina from Pro Connect support. First, when entering grant recipient information for Form 990, Schedule I in the "Quick Entry" screen, there is the ability to download the list of grant recipients to a CSV file.  It would be wonderful if this downloaded list could then be populated with data and alphabetized in Excel, and then uploaded back into the program.Conversely, if idea #1 is not possible, my second idea is that it would be great to be able to alphabetize the list of recipients within the quick entry input screen, particularly those that carry over from the previous year, so that it more closely corresponds with the grant payment reports I generate from QuickBooks, which are in alphabetical order.I think this ability to alphabetize would come in handy in the Pro Connect 1040 application as well for entering things like interest income, dividend income and charitable contributions.

Text on Form 6765New

With passage of the OBBBA taxpayers will be able to amend returns by filing "PURSUANT TO SECTION 4.03 OF REV. PROC. 2025-28"...IRS's guidance is to have that text at the top of Form 6765 which Lacerte currently does not allow, only able to add to Form 1065, Page 1.  I'm requesting for myself and likely 1000s of other CPAs preparing amended returns because of this tax law change.

PYWS aka tax organizer - generate for ALL tax returns regardless of efile statusNew

I would like to suggest that ProConnect updates their trigger to generate a tax organizer for all tax returns including those that were NOT e-filed. There are occassions where mailing the tax return into the governing entities is the only option. It is unfair for those clients to miss out on the peace of mind an  organizer offers. Additionally, it would be "next level customer service" if firms were able to generate the organizer for new clients, meaning, clients we have completed proforma work for, to generate an organizer that pulls the data from the return that was generated for the sake of carryforwards into the next tax year.
