PHONE APP THAT CLIENTS CAN SUBMIT THEIR SIGNATURE BY DRAWING IT ON THEIR PHONE AND SUBMITTING IT TO PROSERIES TO PASTE ON NESSESSARY FORMS. TAXSLAYER HAS SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS.
In screen 34, developers mentioned that the Carryovers/Misc Section are only for non-passive carryovers but there is nothing to indicate that in Lacerte. Can there be an update to indicate that section is only for non-passive carryovers? There is no identification of the section as non-passive nor any instructions with an F1 help for the input to indicate it is for non-passive credits. Passive Carryovers are only allowed in the specific section of the K-1 on screen 34 not the Carryovers/Misc. section. If you enter the carryovers in the wrong section, it could falsely generate the 3800 allowing it as non-passive credit to offset taxable income. In addition, if there is no passive activity income to apply to the passive credit, the 3800 form incorrectly excludes the entire amount as a carryover on the Part IV Line 4 (the credit we had was for the 8846), which I think should still be reported as a passive carryover in column d but column e-i should all be -0- when they don't apply. It should be still shown as a carryover to 2024 just as it does on the 8582-CR, so this needs to be corrected.
It would be helpful to have more than one tax type open in the same year. For instance Individual and S-Corporate module at the same time.
The DO NOT MAIL that automatically prints when the social security number has been masked. Can it be expounded on and in a smaller font so that it doesn't interfere with the signature line on the 8879s?I recommend "Do not mail to the IRS as the social security numbers are masked" Maybe it would cut down the phone calls we receive regarding this. OR better yet take it off the 8879, the letter, etc.
There are two issues I'm seeing: Payments made with extensions - Federal and State - don't transfer to the payments screen. It's as if it never happened.I have to manually verify that the "Electronic payment of tax due with extension" was checked and then enter that in the payments screen. If I set up estimated quarterly taxes via account debit, these also don't automatically transfer to the payments screen. We shouldn't have to manually confirm that estimated or extension payments were made. I missed one and accidentally told a client he owed more than he did. He asked about the extension payments he made. I double checked and found we did make payments with the extensions. As a result he owed significantly less. Proconnect should know payments were made. That was needlessly embarrassing.
Lacerte needs to decide if it a real tax return preparation software or just a pretender. There are way too many things that require manual input through out the 990 series Tax Program.990 tax software is poorly written.
Can we have the tax planner automatically recalculate the QBI deduction based on the 2025 income, versus automatically using prior year qualified income? Currently have to
