POA Form 2848 licensing infoNew

Make preparing of POA Form 2848 more efficient by including the licensing information in the data entered for preparers. Proseries already collects and enters the PTIN and CAF number. Please add the designation (CPA, EA), licensing entity (state, IRS), and licensing number. Have this fill automatically on page two of the POA.

NY resident credit 112R not pulling in PET from other statesNew

NY resident credit is not transferring PET paid to other states (ie: CA) into the 112R.  It only transfers the non resident state tax before PET.  The amount has to be adjusted manually.  Please correct this.

NY estimated tax calculation and PETNew

If NY PET exceeds the tax liability the excess can be applied to the NYC tax but the estimated tax worksheet does not apply it.  The worksheet still creates estimated payments for NYC even if there is excess PET paid in.

NY estimated tax worksheet add a place for payments already madeNew

The federal estimated tax worksheet has a box for estimated tax payments already made and so does CA but NY is missing that box.  If payments were already made I have to override the vouchers and calculate the remaining payments manually.

I should be able to sort document and information requests in Intuit link so that the client sees the requests in the order I want them to see it.  Documents requested have a logical order and should not just be random.

Make tax forms available in early releases of Lacerte taxNew

When using the early releases of Lacerte Tax, the tax forms are not available.  In attempting to do tax projections with the early release, not having forms for analysis makes it difficult to analyze.  The only output available is the Tax Summary which is high-level and does not allow for viewing the detail.Proposal to include the prior year tax forms in the early release so that there is at least some tool with which to better understand the output of the tax calculation and some basis to modify and do what-if analysis.

Arizona Individual E-file LimitationNew

One of my more complex individual clients (multi-state returns, etc.) requires Form 338 (a relatively simple credit form, in my opinion.)  Lacerte's diagnostic acknowledges that Form 338 is allowed for Arizona e-file, but then continues, "However, the program does not support this form.  This return must be filed as a conventional paper return."Unfortunately, the inability to e-file the AZ return also means all of the other (nonresident) state returns must also be paper-filed.  A huge headache.PLEASE consider adding Form 338 to the Arizona credit forms supported by the Lacerte e-file program.

Enhance HomeBase extension columnNew

We rely on the HomeBase "Extension" column to identify clients with missing extensions. The column currently says either "yes" or "no". We discovered that it will say "yes" if the Form 4868 has been frozen -- whether the extension has been submitted or not. Please enhance that column to be more specific as to the status of the extension. As is, it is very misleading and cannot be relied upon as a review mechanism.

Organizer IssuesNew

The 2022 organizer has significantly reduced the number of characters in a field and has alignment issues (e.g. dividend section not placing taxpayer/spouse selection in appropriate field). I called technical support who had me run a pdf-fix application. No success and no other troubleshooting suggestions. At that point it should have been clear this is a matter for the developers. However, I was made to wait an hour and 44 minutes because every reported problem "has to go through a process" before the caller can disconnect. It was explained to me that if I hung up, the matter would not be addressed.Lacerte: please show more respect for your customers and their time constraints!

2023 Standard deduction is wrong in the planner page of the 2022 softwareNew

In the 2022 program, under the "tax planner" page, the program is not calculating the 2023 standard deduction for people 65+, Specifically when a MFJ couple has one over 65. $27,700 + 1,500 = $29,200 but program shows 29,100.Also, I believe the rates in the planning software have not been updated to the 2023 tax rates as announced by IRS in October.I do note that in the 2021 software, the 2023 numbers seem to be correct.Thank you.

Tax OrganizerNew

For the past 2 years we have shipped our lacerte tax organizers out to a company that makes the PDF one that the clients can edit.It would be very helpful if Lacerte offered this form of editable PDF for the tax organizers. When I inquired one year ago, the support member said that it was on their list for the 2022 tax organizers. I see that it is not implemented for 2022?

Why doesn't Lacerte Tax Planner include a missing data tag like Lacerte Tax? This would be extremely helpful for different levels of staff working on tax planning engagements. It would be great for the review process and for client discussions.

Change print order in ProSeriesDiscussion ongoing

The process  to change the print order for ProSeries is extraordinarily tedious. Although you can select multiple and/or specific forms to move them to a different printing position, you have to click the Move Up or Move Down button once to move the form(s) one line. There are over 600 items in the forms list, so moving a form from the bottom to the top is excruciatingly time consuming and a sure means of developing carpal tunnel syndrome.The program does not allow you to hold down the Move Up or Move Down buttons and have the form(s) move until you get them to the right place. Neither is there a drag and drop feature.This is antiquated software at its worst. Even more disappointing -- I worked at Intuit tax development for a number of years and during that time I part participated in a project to update this very feature. We had a solution -- and it worked much like Microsoft to move files around. But, Intuit apparently ignored it.So this is an effort to resuscitate this upgrade to an otherwise outstanding software program. Hopefully we'll see some support from the user community.
