In the document section, documents are associated with a tax year. Can we add a Non Tax year section to upload documents that do not relate to a single tax year? Some documents may be referenced throughout multiple years and it makes it difficult to have to search each year for it rather than a section that could hold all non year related documents. Would make the document storage much more complete.
It would be very helpful to have the ability to customize the client checklist and restrict the ability for clients to upload documents. We encourage our clients to put all their documents into Dropbox because when they add into ProConnect Tax, they come in multiple formats and we are not always able to open or read them. Restricting the ability to let them upload here and adding our own checklist with our own company requirements would save time on both the company and the client side.
Some of my clients have over ten K-1s from other companies. I might prepare the business tax return for one or two of them, but the rest are prepared outside of my firm. Having to input all of these manually is extremely time consuming and error prone. PTO was one of the first softwares to allow an import feature many years ago, but now I feel it is lagging far behind. I would like to add K-1s to the list of documents which can be imported into PTO from an outside provider.
IN DOCUSIGN when you send a return in LACERTE you can choose watermarked or non watermarked but in PROCONNECT you only have a choice of WATERMARKED - please fix this as my clients want NON WATERMARKED Alan Schoenbart CPA
Provide audit trail of the people that are preparing the return in proconnect.
Most often we need to re-order a list of input items. For example:We may want to order the W-2's by the taxpayer and spouse, by the the old and current.We need to re-group interest, dividend, and stock items that make sense.We may need to order the foreign banks in foreign bank account report (FBAR) alphabetically for easy searching. A spreadsheet allows us to reorder the tables, and move around the rows, and I think the intuit software should allow us to do the same. Currently the "Individual Shared Responsibility Penalty" in CA is assessed by default. My idea is to make it NOT as default, and instead, make it default to have full year insurance.Either way, it is the taxpayer and preparer who are responsible to answer the question correctly whether they have insurance or not, but the default should be the most common case. How many of our clients who file tax returns via a tax professional have insurance and do not have insurance?Same with MA, but it is different. It will not pass if you do not fill out the 1099-HC form. The alternative idea is to make the input field mandatory. How many of you who forget to check the "have insurance" box and caused 5000+ penalty assessed? I hope it is zero, but I guess it is not.
Currently Income Allocation for Community Property States does not flow anywhere, so I have to enter the data twice, my idea is for it to flow. A truth only needs to be represented in one place: suppose when the allocation is changed, I do not have to change in two places. By the way, it is a federal form, how would the state know it is okay that the taxpayer did not report the full income (assuming the spouse has no income)?
My client asked if I would make a suggestion regarding Form 8865 for an 1120S. PTO software currently doesn't support it so therefore the return has to be paperfiled. It would be extremely beneficial if the software could support it! Could this be a possibility with the future development of the program? Thanks 🙂
I have seen numerous requests for this. Why is this not implemented yet? I have been using ProSeries for 9+ years and don't understand why this form doesn't retain information.
Currently the name of payer field in dividend and stock input fields is to narrow that a payer name such as "Fidelity 1234" cannot be entirely seen. I propose to increase the field as wide as the interest name of payer field. I propose to use the current return's address for invoice instead of the client's address. The current return has the current address as required, and next year's address will be carried over from the current year. Client's address will only be used initially, and is not required to be updated.
