Estimated payments on the letter “TBD” could be implementedNew

This would be helpful when preparing a return in April, and the recommendations for estimated payments in the future will be addressed at a later date. estimated payments on the letter “TBD” could be implementedWe know this could be accomplished through the custom letter but using that feature leads to more problems than it is worth.  Is this something that has been considered as an option?  An entry of -1 shows up as a zero.  Perhaps an entry of -2 could result in the letter saying “TBD” for that particular estimated payment?

Cannot edit Client PresentationsNew

In a recent call with ProSeries support, I was linked to this article about how to make edits to the client presentation: https://proconnect.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/form-1040/using-client-presentation-proseries/L3TluBKvQ_US_en_USThe software appears to be designed to edit the Client Presentation template (when you have a 1040 return open), and to apply any template changes to all clients. I am unable to get any changes to stick - I update the language of the rude "get an education" message, save Excel, save the ProSeries file, then preview the Client Presentation and it still has the old rude message. I opened a different 1040 file to see if the template changes worked, and it also still has the old rude message.

Add a Query for Texas Franchise Tax Filers that owed Franchise TaxDiscussion ongoing

Please add this as a Client Analyzer Query option.  Texas Franchise filers who pay 100% of the taxes due the previous year do with their extension will not be penalized for filing late if an additional amount is due when the return is filed.  This Query will allow us to pull the clients who owed and advise them what to pay with their extension. Currently the Homebase only shows the amount most recently paid, not the total amount they owed for the year.  Therefore, if we advised them to make an extension payment and they then did not owe any additional taxes when we filed the return, no amount shows in the payment column.I would like to see the total tax for the year when I run the Query.  This would be super helpful and a great time saver. Thank you!

Client Status Page to include lines for Amended Return e-file date and e-file accepted dateDiscussion ongoing

The current process has us using the file with the same name to file the amended return.  This leaves all of the dates on the Client Status page from the originally filed return.  For returns that have the Amended Return to be E-filed box marked on the Client Info. page, it would be ideal to have lines on the client status page for the date the amended return was e-filed and then e-file accepted by the IRS.With so many amended returns needing to be filed as a result of ERC reporting, this would be very helpful.

Adding a New Dependent Code for Dependents 100% Not on a Return in a YearDiscussion ongoing

Currently, the ProSeries software has a line for each dependent and a code — L, N, O, Q — that determines how a dependent is to be used in the current year’s tax return.However, more and more, dependent situations are becoming complex. Some dependents should be on a tax return in some years and completely off the returns in others. It would be very helpful to have a code — 😧 dormant this year. Do not consider in any calculations or for the EIC/childcare expenses. And, do not include on any state tax returns.In subsequent years, when the dependent should be included in the return in some capacity, their code can be changed.

Texas Webfile DiagnosticDiscussion ongoing

To e-file a Texas franchise return, either the prior year revenue or Webfile number is required to be input. There are three different Webfile number types a taxpayer could have, each beginning with two letters followed by six numbers: RT for Sales Tax, XT for franchise, or FQ for "Franchise Questionnaire" when an entity is first set up. Of these, only the XT number is valid for e-filing the franchise return. I would love to see a critical Texas e-file diagnostic added when the Webfile number input has anything entered other than XT followed by six digits. This would save a lot of e-filing rejections.

Remove or Change Section 179 Diagnostic on HVAC and RoofsDiscussion ongoing

Section 179 is allowed on HVAC units and roofs for 39-year property. This should not come out as a critical diagnostic from Lacerte. Perhaps an informational diagnostic would be appropriate, or create a check box within the fixed asset input screen to say "Yes, this is a roof or HVAC unit eligible for 179 treatment" so that the diagnostic can be avoided. It causes staff to search for solutions to problems that don't exist.

Please allow for the designation of a "rounding" spouse when splitting returns similar to what is provided  for in the partnership module.  Over several years, the difference between spouses split gifts becomes greater than just a rounding error.

It would be cool if there was a feature that allowed us to exact the email addresses of all the clients that have not provided their tax docs into one, BCC, type email. This would save use the time of emailing each and every client individually and separately.

Diagnostic Reference NumbersNew

Lacerte needs to go back to where the reference number in a diagnostic could be used in the search on the diagnostic screen to get a meaningful explanation.  It saved tax preparers time and lessened preparers having to make phone calls to Lacerte. Why in the world was that ability removed? Instead of making the function better, Lacerte removed it. BIG MISTAKE!!!

Exempt Org. TaxNew

1. please fix printing of client mailing - if client name is continued it does not line up. it is over about 1.5 inches to the left and it looks like garbage.2. California has a form RRF-1 that is paper filed. The program will not print this return in paper unless you unclick the California state form from being electronically filed. Then then when you print the return you need to throw-out the California return and sort through to get the RRF-1 form and mailing slip sheets and attachments.3. you cannot just print the RRF-1 as the slip sheet will never print.  4. then you have to write manually on the client letter that the state return will be e-filed.This has been a problem for a couple of years. I have advised technical support and this has not been fixed. Please fix the Exempt Org. Tax printing problems  this used to work fine years ago.

Estimated Tax Payments and Applied Refund Amounts Flagged in Subsequent YearsNew

It would be helpful if ProSeries rolled in estimated tax payments from prior years, or, at least, flagged that estimated payment vouchers had been prepared for a client in prior years. The same holds for applied refund amounts.Of course, we prepare estimated payment vouchers for lots of clients who don’t use them. However, for the clients who do use them, this would be a really helpful feature. We would need to verify the payments and dates with the client, but this would save some time and add to accuracy.

Reminder message after tax file is transferred from a different computerNew

I would like the software engineer to add a reminder or an error message, to remind users checking the Firm Number/Preparer info after a tax file is transferred from a different computer.A month ago when a client tax file was transferred, edited/reviewed, and ready to be e-filed, there was no critical diagnostic message at all. However, the e-filing was rejected with a message indicating preparer information was missing. First, we checked the preparer name and preparer info at the Options setting. Then, I spent at least an hour on the phone with a customer support agent who tried solving this problem by asking us to install the prep file, and checking a few other ways. Didn't solve the problem.Lastly, the agent had to ask help from another agent who apparently has more experience. He/she found that the FIRM NUMBER shows a "2" (the previous preparer probably listed our firm as her 2nd firm. One hour of precious time was wasted only because we failed to choose the default firm number on the dropdown menu.  I would appreciate Lacerte better training the customer support to be aware of this, and also add a reminder to preparers.

Treasury Regulations require 8038CP to be electronically filed after December 31, 2023.  Would Lacerte consider adding this?  As a tax attorney for municipal bonds, it would be beneficial to be able to serve clients with this service.  There's a lot of talk in the bond community about the need for it.

For example:- Under e-file PDF/Miscellaneous, "link to form" input field, I can type "46" to call the entry, but I have to use a mouse to select it.- Under depreciation, "method" input field, I can type "85" to call the entry, but I have to use a mouse to make the selection stay.It is a pain when I do a lot of them.--Click this link to vote. Like many good things in life, we have to fight for them.

Please add a time stamp or time entry field for status changes. This would allow the firm/accountant to be able to know the order to work returns by when they came in. Also would provide great information on alerting staff if a return has been sitting in a status for too long and needs to be checked on.

Reminder or flag if TP/SP had IP Pin present prior yearDiscussion ongoing

Rather than wait for a rejection because the TP or SP IP Pin is missing, it would be great if ProConnect would proforma over or show prior year IP Pin.  We all know these Pin numbers are different each year but it would show that one was present prior and that we should need a new one for this year.

Exempt Organization Form processingNew

I believe this has been an issue for a few years.  Within the Exempt Organization Program only, whenever I am viewing a particular Form/page and then edit some details/amounts related to that particular Form, when I reprocess the return, it should bring back to the Form/page that I was viewing.  But it always brings me back to page one.  All the other modules work appropriately, but for some reason Exempt Organizations (990-PF) have this glitch.  Please fix this issue.  Thank you.

Include estimated worksheet even when E-file estimated paymentsDiscussion ongoing

When I select to E-file estimated payments, the estimated tax worksheet is not included in the applicable forms to preview, and not included in the PDF output. I request to have an option to have this worksheet included even when estimated payments are E-filed, because it is useful to check how the amounts are calculated. Generally, I would like to have an option include a form which is not under "applicable" but under "all forms" on preview. There are reasons when a form is needed while it is not considered as "applicable" by Intuit. This idea is related to https://proconnect.intuit.com/community/proconnect-tax-idea-exchange/ability-to-include-any-form-in-pdf/idi-p/244778 .
