why does Form IL-1041, Illinois 'Sch K-1-T' 'Step 2: Identify Your Beneficiary' information NOT carryover to the following year? Looks like the program tries to pull the information from the current yearFederal return , which does not have the information. It should pull the information from the previous years Form IL-1041, Illinois 'Sch K-1-T' 'Step 2: Identify Your Beneficiary', since the information is always the same year to year.

It would be nice to have a place to indicate the client preferred method of getting tax return to them (i.e. pdf through esignature, postal mailing, email, pick up, deliver).  It could be in miscellaneous screen under organizer miscellaneous. and would be nice if can put in columns on client screen

Maryland Estimated Tax WorksheetNew

For Individual Tax returns - Screen 7, where we calculate the following year's required estimated tax payments - There is a box to check which will force the Federal Estimated Tax Worksheet to print.  PLEASE add a similar box to request a state of Maryland estimated tax worksheet to print.We have been waiting years for this addition to the software, and have requested the improvement multiple times before. Sometimes it is difficult to figure out how Lacerte came-up with the figures for the following year's MD estimated tax payment amounts.

have another Question About Schedule E- FederalNew

I just hung up from Earl who was great.  I still have a question about my problem.  I was calling as the ROYALITIES  I entered weren't appearing on the FORM Schedule E but everything else was correct.  Earl told me I would have to change it from Royalties to RENTAL...well, that did help in posting the company addresses, but on  1b it changed the TYPE OF PROPERTY to 7 from 6  which is incorrect.  It, also, moved the amounts from LINE 4 to LINE 3...they are ROYALTIES NOT RENTS.   So HELP!!!!   Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you,   #200347

As of 3/17/2024, Lacerte offers this method for MFS filers:Lacerte will not split pension income on the MFJ/MFS income worksheet for community property states. It will keep the designation either taxpayer or spouse. To split it, a manual entry will be required to show the split by entering two items (one for the taxpayer and one for the spouse).I would like a Joint box so that it can easily be split 50/50.  Q: What do therapists say when they greet each other?.........A: You're fine. How am I? 🤣

Direct Deposit - StateNew

A heads-up that the Direct Deposit box was UNCHECKED after checking it, upon changing Fed to a Direct Debit on Info page??  Or make separate on Info page?  If something is added/subtracted from Fed that causes a Fed Only Balance Due, I am forced to uncheck the DD box, which unchecks it on State, although State DOES have a refund.  If I don't notice/remember to go back to state and re-enter that checkbox, client's state refund check is mailed.

Improvements for NY S Corp ReturnDiscussion ongoing

Please add an option for a federal S Corp to file as a C Corp in NY. A separate election is required by NY to file as an S Corp as they do not accept the federal S election. The fact that the program does not allow a federal S Corp to file as a C Corp in NY is a major flaw that needs to be corrected ASAP!!!!!!!!!

There are many small tax preparers using PCT like myself, that could use more tax returns to prepare.  There are also many PCT preparers that need to outsource some of their tax returns.  Why not set up a PCT exchange bringing these "buyers" and "sellers" together.  The "buyers" would pay a referral fee as a percentage of the fee charged the client to the "sellers."  And PCT / Intuit would keep a percentage of the fee - say 10%-20%.  This would benefit all parties.James Ferguson, CPACus No. Ending xxxxx343

Selecting individual partners/owners for K-1 exportDiscussion ongoing

The option to check the box for passthrough entities to automatically export K-1 data to individual owners' returns prepared by our firm is very useful. However, there are times when it's necessary to only export to one partner, rather than all. In entities with lots of partners, this could mean un-checking many partners to get just the one, and then having to go back through and re-check the box for all the relevant partners. This is tedious and prone to errors.It would be a huge time-saver on the export pop-up screen to show all the pre-selected partners as it does now, but also have checkboxes and an uncheck-all button for such a case. The screen could be similar in concept to the e-file screen, where the selected parties are all listed, but we can then choose a subset to proceed to the next step.

After hours of trial-and-error, failure to find written guidance, and over an hour with tech support, the rep's advice was to work around it by forcing the taxable income amount return by return. Worksheet or audit trail for Form MD 505 additions and subtractionsNew

I need to file a non-resident return for an individual with business income in Maryland. On Form 505 there are lines for additions to income and deductions from income. I am having difficulty following the source of these numbers that populate the form. Clicking on the blue field takes me to an input screen that is blank. The DOR instructions are long and confusing for these two lines. Since the additions that appeared added 35% to their taxable income and pushed it above the Federal AGI, I wanted to investigate further. No way for me to save time without a worksheet or trail. The only worksheets available show singular simple computations.

As are a number of people now, we are working from home and not in an common office.  Partners in a firm each have their own address.  We have a communal PO Box for all of us to use and select each ones mail.  The IRS Efin registration allows us one physical address which we use one of the partner's address and a mailing address with our communal PO Box.  The problem we are encountering is with Lacerte.  It will not allow us to use the PO Box (mailing address) for our firm address and prints the one partner's address on slip sheets, letters, etc.  Our clients send us mail a lot and one partner does not want to become the postal clerk for all of us.  Not to mention, the worry with other partner's possibly not getting their mail.  There needs to be an option with Lacerte that in addition to a physical address, there is also a mailing address like the IRS Efin has.  And a firm as the option to have the physical or mailing address on all their documents and correspondence through Lacerte.  Seems like a reasonable request and should be easy to accomplish with the software.  I am sure there are many that have encountered this problem.

Game changer… everyone wants to keep client tax documents secure. How about Proconnect software encrypts any downloaded client document automatically? Users could set up their own password to be used to encrypt any downloaded document. That could be a firm-wide password or by preparer. I’d use that feature & Intuit could promote it as a security feature.

Unlike the Individual program, neither the S Corp program or the Partnership program allows for a primary or user option to be set for 4th quarter State estimates to be paid by December 31. We the advent of the various State pass thru entity taxes, it would be helpful to add this option.

NY CT-3 support in S-corp moduleDiscussion ongoing

New York requires its own S-corp election. After approved to be a NY S-corp, then you can file NY CT-3-S. As such, an S-corporation for federal can file the New York return for corporations, i.e. CT-3, if it is not a NY S-corp. Currently, Lacerte does not support the CT-3 under S corp module.

I highly recommend adding the nonresident estimated tax payments on Vermont partnership returns to the items that can be specially allocated so they show up on the partners' Vermont k-1 AND making this information flow through on the individual partners' personal returns when the K-1 information is exported to their personal returns.  Currently all of this has to be done by over rides and adjustments.  And there don't seem to be any instructions on how to do it currently.Thanks for your help.
