You can put it in the column currently reserved for the pointless box 3 Non-dividend distribution box and move THAT to the Dividend Income worksheet.  1099A dividends are quite common.

Regarding the automatic backups that are being created - please consider running these when we are not trying to prepare tax returns.  In our office, the 2021 program would run the backup routine at roughly 9:10 am every day.  Our server resources would be totally consumed and our ability to work in Lacerte would come to a halt for several minutes.  The 2022 program is kicking off the backup routine between 9 am and 1 pm local time, setting us up for a repeat this year.  It's a problem when we are already on a tight schedule with client appointments to have the system essentially "freeze".

Please insure that Accountant's Trial Balance (ATB) software links into ProSeries 2022, and beyond. This feature allows for business trial balances to be seamlessly imported into business tax returns. Adjustments are automatically updated in the tax return. It saves me an amazing amount of time, especially since the links carry forward every year.  While ATB is an older software no longer supported, it still works as good as ever.  Without this link with ATB, I won't be able to prepare anywhere near the number of returns I have been preparing annually.

Change print order in ProSeriesDiscussion ongoing

The process  to change the print order for ProSeries is extraordinarily tedious. Although you can select multiple and/or specific forms to move them to a different printing position, you have to click the Move Up or Move Down button once to move the form(s) one line. There are over 600 items in the forms list, so moving a form from the bottom to the top is excruciatingly time consuming and a sure means of developing carpal tunnel syndrome.The program does not allow you to hold down the Move Up or Move Down buttons and have the form(s) move until you get them to the right place. Neither is there a drag and drop feature.This is antiquated software at its worst. Even more disappointing -- I worked at Intuit tax development for a number of years and during that time I part participated in a project to update this very feature. We had a solution -- and it worked much like Microsoft to move files around. But, Intuit apparently ignored it.So this is an effort to resuscitate this upgrade to an otherwise outstanding software program. Hopefully we'll see some support from the user community.

On form 8867, paid preparer’s due diligence checklist.  Why not have it auto check the applicable items EIC, CTC/ACTC/ODC, AOTC, HOH?  It knows when you have the appropriate ones checked.

CCH ProSystems does this: as long as the taxpayer has an email address in the email field, once a return is accepted by the tax authorities, CCH automatically sends the client an email alerting them of this.It would save so much time during tax season if ProSeries could do the same.

On numerous occasions I have completed a 1040X to be e filed and it gets rejected because there is no prompt to change the date pin entered to the current year.  This should be an error that occurs while reviewing or a prompt would be helpful to change the date to the current year you are submitting.

 Adding form 3520-a and 3520 to The individual module would greatly enhance the program. There is a lack of availability of this form in other tech software. Even if this upgrade would be an additional charge I believe many professionals would gladly pay for this as we don’t have a market that we can purchase this from.  Additional international tax forms would greatly improve the program would include form 8858(information return of US persons with respect to foreign disregarded entities) on the individual module. This form is already available on the partnership and corporate module yet most individuals own foreign disregarded entities.lastly similar to form 3520 above offering a product for form 8865 would greatly improve the program since there is a lack of availability in other software.

Allow Export of Appointment Calendar DataNew

In the past all of the appointment calendar data was stored in one single file and that could be opened with Excel. We could manipulate the data, import it into Outlook and do whatever we needed to do with it. This past year Lacerte encrypted the file so that we couldn't use it at all. There are no options at all to export the appointment information and very few print options. Please allow us to use this data. Either decrypt that file or allow us to export to a csv or something, anything!

Form 8997 - Qualified Opportunity Zone FundNew

As a 20+ year user of Lacerte, I am extremely disappointed in the programming for the Statement of Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund (From 8997).  In the year of investment, you enter all investments in Part II.  OK.  The problem is that this does not complete Part IV which is the same exact information needed for QOF at Year End.  Instead, you have to enter the exact same information again choosing Part VI in the first input.  I was completely unaware of this which caused this form to be completed incorrectly on the returns I filed last year.My even more important gripe with Form 8997 is in the subsequent year filings.  The instructions require this Form to be completed every year these investments are held, which is typically 10 years for most people!  For this reason, this form should proforma each year allowing us to use check boxes to indicate any changes.  IT DOES NOT, AND LACERTE HAS NO PLANS TO DO THIS AS OF MY CALL WITH THEM TODAY.  Additionally, there are ZERO diagnostics to even alert us to make sure this form is completed so the taxpayer does not get their entire deferral disallowed by the IRS.  This is a MASSIVE oversight on Lacerte's part in my opinion.  They do it right with the CA Form 3840 when we have to report the 1031 exchange deferrals every year until the properties are sold triggering CA tax, but for some reason, they completely missed the mark on this Form.Please vote for this since the ramifications for our clients can be disastrous if we get it wrong.

I'd like to suggest an additional "Tax Folder" slip sheet, namely one that indicates a tax return has been "Amended". As we are not able to add new slips sheet ourselves, at the moment, I have to leave Lacerte to utilize a MS word template and it's just a little time consuming... and annoying quite frankly. TIA 😊

There is no way to populate form 3804 in the Individual module.In order to get the PTE Credit which requires form 3804 from the state of California you have to paper file. This needs to be addressed by Lacerte programmers. I was on the line for over an hour with Lacerte with no success and no admission that it was a problem. That is concerning,

It would be great if we could open more than one return at a time. For instance, an 1120S or a 1065 and a 1040. Going back and forth between the returns allows for mistakes when we are checking the impact of certain tax positions. Even the ability to open two 1040 returns at the same time would be nice- think student and parent.
