As title says, streamline this list.
In order to show the correct amount of prepaid CA PTE we have to use the screen 37.011 box under Pass-Through Entity Elective Tax Payment Vouchers called Payment Voucher 2022 Form 3893. This also creates a voucher and forces the Instructions for the CA PTE to include both 2022 and 2023 instructions. This is incorrect, as the 2022 voucher shouldn't be paid again in 2023. There should be a box for the total amount of CA PTE prepayment, or it shouldn't generate a new 2022 voucher, nor have it reflected in the instructions. The time for making 2022 prepayment is passed.
I have ran into two issues when preparing returns in CA.1. There is not way to enter the CA declared disaster for the 12/20/2022 Earthquake. This was declared a CA Disaster loss only. Drop down menu has no options that are valid or that will work. 2. The Federally and CA declared disasters for storm damage in January 2023 do not show up as a possible choice in Screen 17.1 under either "Disaster Loss (ctrl+T) or under Qualified CA Disaster (FTB 3805V) Ctrl+T)(CA). The drop down menus for both of these are lacking the January 2023 storm damage. We can take this on the 2022 tax return now, so we do not have to amend later.
NYS PTE tax election and tax return filing can only be made by NYS online portal. It would be helpful if Lacerte can calculate the tax for each partner by adding a couple of input fields so that the numbers can be plugged into the NYS portal. Also, NYS does have an upload feature to import all the partner information. Lacerte should have a way to export the information needed for the import, in the format that NYS requires, so that it can be quickly and easily uploaded.
Can the Watermark be lightened? The Watermark is so dark that you cannot read what is underneath once printed.
SCH K-1 BASIS LIMITATION NEEDS TO BE MOVED TO CRITICAL DIAGNOSTIC AS IT WAS ON THE 2021 PROGRAM:WITH AN INPUT JUMP1000
With the Hawaii return only one attachment can be made to the Schedule D, and the program wants to auto attach a form to the return. When having additional 1099's to attach it becomes a problem because Hawaii will only allow one attachment. By turning off 'auto attach' in the settings a new error is generated (error 40824) which says an attachment needs to be made when there's a Schedule G. My schedule G was blank and yet I still get that error message. This should be fixed.
New Lacerte user for 2022.It would be nice to have different types of notes, for instance one that is not form screen or specific. Then you could select a column to display on the main client screen which would have an icon indicating a note is present that you can mouse over and a pop up with those notes would open. Then in that pop-up window if you click on the note, the program takes you to the screen it's on.It would be very helpful so that you didn't have to go into a client and guess what screen has a certain note or client level note.
I have been waiting for Schedule OR-ASC to properly be updated and include code 898 in it. You are putting me in a huge disadvantage among my competitors that are using other programs such as Drake, etc. because those are already updated schedule OR-ASC with code 898.No one from Intuit advised me in advance that the programmers were not planning to properly update the State of Oregon with the New Tax law, I had to find out by myself.I already made several phone calls To Intuit and sent several emails requesting that update, some of my clients are asking about the new tax law regarding the earned income credit given by the State of Oregon.I am respectfully requesting the development team to make this update for the State of Oregon, so I could do my job with the professionalism all my clients expect and prepare all the Tax Returns without any missing credits.Thank you so much in advance for your consideration to my request.
I had to do both a Ca return and a VA return and was getting rejected from VA since I was getting a diagnostic error that said; "Form 760PY page 1. State and local Income Taxes cannot exceed itemized deductions paid while a Virginia resident". Then when I would override in screen 55.171 but putting a -1, the diagnostic will go away so I would think that it will go through VA but it got rejected. The solution was to not override and instead suppress the diagnostic because apparently the override was causing VA sched A not to print and there was no way for Virginia to compare line 11 of form 760PY with line 19 of VA Sched A which should be equal. I was helped by Lacerte technical support to suppress that diagnostic and it finally went through.
In the table of contents, in the right hand side of the screen we have a nice summary of the client. I think it would be great, if we had a note section under the Efile bullet. This note section should include the ability to put a date and also a secondary field for updates or changes. DATE | NOTE | Status Update I know we already have a note section but is not readable accessible when you open the file. maybe link both. B
