There is an error on form 8853 in Lacerte calculating line 21 at 2023 rate of $420 when the 2024 rate declined to $410: There appears to be no override unless the number of days is divisible by 420 that matches the correct answer when the actual number of days is multiplied by $410. There is no error or related diagnostic for this.

E-file AZ trust returns with no beneificaryNew

For years I have been able to e-file AZ trust returns with no beneficiaries.  This year it isn't working.  Per the reject notice, it states it can be done, but it can't.  Fix the programming to allow this, as it is a common situation that the trust keeps the income and doesn't payout to a beneficiary.

California Mandatory ePay ErrorNew

When I have the California mandatory ePay box checked AND select electronic payment of balance due  for amount due to California, I am getting error diagnostic # 60810. This has not been an issue in the past. Upon checking the instructions for the California ePay mandate, it specifically states electronic funds withdrawal with an efiled return satisfies the electronics payment mandate.     The only way for me to override this is to unclick the mandatory ePay box - which will then not help next year when I need to remember which clients are in the mandatory ePay program.  ?? Any help here is very much appreciated.

Add other state returns to the MD e-filed returnNew

Currently Lacerte does not attach other state returns to the MD return when e-filing. This is required to claim the credit for taxes paid to the other state on income that MD wants to tax from that state. So, the only resolution is to make paper copies of the other state returns and attach them to a paper filed copy of the MD return. This is especially onerous since I have 5 clients that file tax returns in 20+ states.

Autofill birth year showing wrong centuryDiscussion ongoing

Please change the programming when entering a birthday. Right now if the individual was born before 1973 you must enter all 4 numbers in order for them to not be born in the future. If you enter 010170 for January 1st, 1970 it instead will show up as 01/01/2070. I don't know why 1973 was chosen as the year that if someone was born before then that their century will be chosen as the 21st instead of the 20th. I understand if the individual is over 100 years old that you would need to specify. If 1973 can be chosen as the random year of century determination, why not make the year 1925 or 1926?

Client billing errors in latest updateNew

I'm noticing errors in the client billing in the latest Proseries software update.  The program is adding and billing for forms in the Charges Per Form section that aren't included in the return and omitting others that are.  Can someone fix this?  It makes the billing feature unusable.

California mandatory epayNew

In California, when business entities pay by check and submit a voucher, the state will assess them a whopping 10% penalty.  For individuals the penalty is 1%.  The problem is that Lacerte continues to print payment vouchers when, if used, the client will get an immediate 10%/1% penalty.  The state has also not been abating these penalties.  My wild idea is this.  Lacerte development team... when we preparers mark the box that the client is subject to mandatory epay. PLEASE DO NOT PRINT THE PAYMENT VOUCHERS FOR ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF TO PRINT OUT FOR CLIENTS TO USE.  I can not tell you how many times i have gotten the call "well your staff gave me the voucher and i used it"This is an issue for corporate and s-corporate modules, but there may be other modules that are ignoring the mandatory epay rule in California.

Link Status display does not update (Lacerte) March 1, 2025New

Link Display status isn't updating.1. Clients who have been marked done (clicked Yes on the 'TY24 Client Done toggle in upper right) do not show as Completed in the display screen.2.  Clients NOT marked done are showing as CompletedLink is a useful and valuable tool. The Client display screen is ESSENTIAL for those users with hundreds of clients. How can we get these corrections done soon?

Notifications when clients upload documentsNew

There needs to be notifications every time a client uploads documents into their file so we do not miss any forms to import into their tax returns.  I almost missed a 1099-R file of 5 forms because the client uploaded forms after I had processed their tax return and thought I was done.  This notification feature is very crucial.

The font size on the diagnostic page is very small.   We can adjust the font size on other sections of Lacerte, but not this one.  The diagnostic page report does show the items in larger font, but then the links are not active.

We have an issue with the partnership program. The Screen 23 passthrough K-1s is triggered and creates a K-1 passthrough of the entity itself. Then you get a critical that not all of the information is entered for the pass through K-1. We can delete the pass throughs and can finish the return. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

OR-CAT -- Oregon Corporate Activity TaxNew

I currently cannot e-file the Oregon Corporate Activity Tax (OR-CAT) for businesses.  The forms are available but I have to paper file for all of my clients as the state doesn't allow to file by fax or email.  Please become an efile vendor for the OR-CAT because it is an extra step I didn't have to take with my prior tax software.

CA health insurance critical diagnostic - PLEASE REMOVE!New

To who it may concern,It is NONE of your concern if CA residents have health insurance. Further more, this critical diagnostic appears EVERY time even with W-2/Soc Sec/etc.. It even appears AFTER entering information for any 1095. Seriously? WHY?NOBODY asked for this. Can you at least attempt to implement ACTUAL customer feedback instead of arbitrary, useless, and time consuming ideas that everyone hates?Please remove this with haste. This has been my TED talk, thank you.

From an organizational standpoint, it would be helpful to have a tab where the clients can be organized by the date the returns are created in the system.  Then I could have insight on who to prepare first without having to create my own lists outside of the program.

K-1 SUMMARY FOR 1120S & 1065 RETURNSNew

Proconnect should have a schedule summarizing all the K-1 lines items for all shareholders in form 1120S and all partners in 1065. This is especially helpful when reviewing a tax return prepared by someone else. The only way to review each shareholder's or partner's K-1 information is to go to each K-1 individually. I envision the schedule having each shareholder or partner accross the top of the screen and each K-1 line item along the side. Ultratax has this so should Proconnect. You have a good program, make it better!

State and Local Income Tax Refund Worksheet import issueNew

Part I > Item Q Line 5b or Line 5c are usually triggering "errors" because ProSeries doesn't know how to transfer a blank entry as a 0 entry. All my clients that itemized get this error and almost always the missing entry is 0 because the prior year value was left empty.
