Capital gains transactions import needs to be expanded. I would like all fields to be importable. But, certainly "wash sales" is the field that I use most often that I can't import.
I had a few customers this year complain that the final tax return I gave them from the e-signature application was stamped "DO NOT FILE" and I had to send them separate tax returns through DocuSign without that stamp. I'd like to request a feature update from the engineering team to allow us to remove the "DO NOT FILE" stamp on the e-signature application. I understand why it was put on the tax returns by default, but I would still like the option to remove it based on customer feedback. From my limited research, it looks like this feature is already available to Lacerte users only, and this opiton is not available for users of Proconnect Tax Online.
Electronically filed the 1040 which included the NIIT Form 8960 with a tax amount showing. Later an amended K-1 with less investment income was received, so an amended 1040 was e-filed. That resulted in zero NIIT. The taxpayer received a letter from the IRS regarding the 1040-X stating "Form 8960 is blank, illegible, missing, or damaged." Using the e-file support tool to View e-file, I don't see a Form 8960 as being included in the amended return. Granted it would not be necessary to file had zero tax been due in the original return, but amended returns are supposed to include all forms that were changed. Also, one would expect the IRS, person or computer, to realize that the NIIT had dropped to zero and not worry about the form. Still, a letter was received and a response will be necessary. Of course, to get Lacerte programmers to consider issues, it seems we have to post here so others can comment thus helping establish programming priorities. Perhaps, include the "form" in the amended return or a diagnostic advising attaching it?
As the title suggests, I am looking for way to alphabetize grants given on Statement 4 for the 990 PF return. Currently, Lacerte displays these grants in the order they were entered. It is only on the details tab you have the ability to sort grants alphabetically. Thus to get an alphabetized list of grants, someone needs to re-enter the grants after sorting them alphabetically. This is request has two solutions. First, Statement 4 of the 990-PF Return is updated to display grants alphabetically. The other solution is offering a print setting that has Statement 4 being alphabetized. If this is implemented, it would be easier for clients to see who they gave grants to. We'd also be saving time on the preparation of the return instead of going back and redoing the grants alphabetically.
I am looking for a combining of separate New Hampshire properties for SMLLC filing purposes for the BT-Summary. Currently, New Hampshire only allows one property per LLC. However, I have clients that have multiple properties under the same SMLLC. Can Lacerte be updated to include multiple properties under the same (or multiple) SMLLC?
It would be very helpful if the calculated future estimated tax payments were included in the tax data report available to export.
Please configure the 1098 Mortgage and 1098-T worksheets to take advantage of the EIN database as is done with W-2 and 1099-R entry.
New feature in Individual Module to create a Dependent's return from Screen 2. Drop down menu spells the word: DEPENDANT.Really? For how much we pay for this program, you cannot spell check your menus?
Rather than create a file copy, want to be able to assign a separate FBAR ownership to the secondary taxpayer. Dare I hope for more, the ability to allow two FBARS in a joint return if each taxpayer needs it.
When a return is extended, the client letter automatically says that they have until 10/15 to pay. Other tax software will automatically say to pay asap to avoid penalties. I know that it can be overridden. But I think it should be automatic to say pay asap.
