Export K-1 from Limited Partnership to single member LLC's individual tax returnNew

A single member LLC is a partner in a limited partnership. This single member LLC is noted as a disregarded entity in screen 7 “Partner information”. The SSN & name of the owner of the disregarded entity are entered in screen 32.1 "Disregarded Entity: Partner Information". The K-1 data export tool should transfer the K-1 info to the individual's tax return for reporting on page 2 of Sch E. But, this is not happening and we have to manually enter the K-1 in the individual's tax info.

Fix links from input screens to trust tax return for MD extension/estimate paymentsNew

According to ProConnect, "Unlike some other returns, extension payments for fiduciary filings often require manual entry into the specific tax payment screens rather than automatically populating."  Even after following the steps to manually enter the extension payment made for a Maryland trust return we had to have a 2 hour phone call with Intuit's ProConnect support team for technical assistance.  Entering the extension payment in the input screen did not flow to the tax return.  This was a simple trust return with only one resident state.  This shouldn't have been a two hour phone call that in the end required us needing to do a batch edit of data through Customer Support Tools - just fix the link or give us a way to override.

TSJ indicators and notes pencil icon conflictNew

When TSJ indicators are shown and notes are added to the box, the pencil icon that indicates there are notes is under the TSJ indicator. We miss the notes all the time when TSJ is enabled and it's very frustrating. We want to leave TSJ enabled, but we also need the notes as returns go between preparer and final reviews. Please move the notes pencil to one side of the box and the TSJ indicators to the other side.

State Estimates Auto PayNew

It looks like you are trying to set up the state (Indiana) estimates to allow for autopay.  This option would really help as Indiana does not want estimates mailed in.  They prefer auto pay through our software or online payments which is difficult for many clients. Will this be available for 2025 returns?

Printing Signature Forms to SmartVault.New

We have the option of printing Signature Forms to SmartVault.  However, it changes the name to Government Copy which overrides any Government Copy we had already printed to SmartVault.  It would be helpful if the name could stay Signature Forms to prevent us from having to go back, change the name & then print another Government Copy to SmartVault. Also, a couple of years ago, the State form got removed from the print result for the 1065 program.  You can choose Print to SmartVault & you can check both Federal & State, however only the Federal prints.  This requires us to print the state Signature form as a separate step.

Indiana Sch IN K-1 Wks Is Not Printing With Filing Copy of Return. PTET Credit Denied.New

The Indiana Sch IN K-1 is where we input the PTET credit for owners. We preparers have been informed by Ind Dept of Rev that the Sch IN K-1 Wks must be submitted with the IT-40 in order for taxpayers to get credit for their PTET payments. Since were are paper-filing IT-40s with PTET credit (per IDR request), I printed the filing copy of the IT-40 and discovered that the Sch IN K-1 Wks' did not print. It occurred to me that those forms may not be being submitted with an electronically filed return, also. REQUEST 1. Make the Sch IN K-1 Wks a part of the "Filing Copy" as well as the "Preparer's Copy" and Taxpayer's Copy," when printing a hard copy. REQUEST 2. Verify the Sch IN K-1 Wks gets submitted on an electronically filed IT-40. Thanks

Support Form MO-TC for e-filingNew

I wish that ProSeries supported electronic filing of Form MO-TC (and Form MO-SHC) with Missouri individual income tax returns. Missouri has so many credits that are reported on the MO-TC and not being able to electronically file those returns increases the time spent on these returns by having to print a copy to mail and making copies of all the supporting documents to be sent with the return. It also increases the chance for errors by the state when they process the paper return. This form can be electronically filed with the Missouri 1120 corporate and Missouri 1041 returns. I don't understand why it can't be electronically filed with a Missouri 1040 individual return.

Time stamp on Intuit InviteNew

Some clients ask me to "re-invite" them to the Intuit Link.  If I could tell them what DATE the original invite was sent, they can look in their e-mails and accept.  Otherwise, we have to go through the involved process of "un-inviting" them, then "re-inviting" them.  Takes extra time.  During tax season, time is what we DON'T have.A simple date stamp on the invite, when you access the 'Invitation pending' link would be helpful.Thank you.

Intuit Link RecommendationsNew

As others have previously mentioned, the following suggestions would make the Link client platform much better: 1. you should be able to delete client data - totally delete the file and all of its contents. 2. you should be able to add more than one email to a file, especially for MFJ taxpayers. 3. there should be a section to account for quarterly estimated payments for federal and states. 4. the list of documents turned in the PY should roll over so the client can make sure they are not missing any documents.

Change estimated tax electronic payments form 1040ES payment date on the 1040ES Proseries processes on behalf of client. If we miss the coupon payment date we should not have to wait for the next coupon date to process the additional amount due.New

When you file a tax return after the extension date and you miss 1040ES preset dates.  It would be nice with we could modify the payment date the first of which will not coincide with the actual preset dates on the 1040ES.  We really should not have to wait till the next payment due date to electronically file the estimated tax that should have been paid to that point.

990s with UBIT add VA Form 500New

The Virginia Form 500 is required to be submitted for NFPs with a 990-T (located in VA).  However the only state you can get with the 990s is CA.  Therefore we have create a second entity on the corporate side and re-enter all the information for the organization a second time.  It would be far more efficient to make the VA Form 500 available as a state form under the 990s.

e-Signature needs to notify tax preparer when it has been signed by the clientNew

Presently, when the client signs the 8879, a notification is placed next to the client's name under the heading "esignature status".     However, the tax preparer isn't notified.  Unlike Docusign, we don't get an email notification so we must constantly be looking back at our tax return list. In the midst of the tax season with potentially dozens of returns filed daily, it can be missed.  That actually happened to a preparer I know.We get email notifications on rejections (that's only been in the last few years) so I think it should at least be on par with Docusign where we get that notification also.

To Whom It May Concern: In the select states and/or cities to print, all the returns are automatically checked.  Therefore, can the "Check All" box be replaced with "Uncheck All" box instead or add "Uncheck All"?  It is very time consuming to uncheck each and every one of the state's boxes to print one return at a time.Thank you!

Allow the user to customize the filing instructions in LaCerte.New

This is NOT in regard to the Client Letter or Slip Sheets which I'm aware can be customized. For example; The Due Date states "File Immediately" for a Separate Form 8822-B Change of Address that isn't being filed late. That wording is basically implying that you have missed the due date and are filing late in my opinion. I have been asked several times if they have missed a due date for the filing of such Forms. I really just wanted to change to As Soon As Possible. Not a huge deal but also sometimes I want to change the date or some wording within the instructions. Thank you, Scott

PDF of government copyNew

When printing business returns (not sure about Individuals, but likely the same) and printing the government copy to PDF, PTO only prints the cover letter that's it, no matter what custom printing settings say will be printed.  That's the first issue - if it isn't going to print anything else, then at flag that with a message when customizing the goverment copy that it doesn't matter here what you check b/c PTO isn't going to do it anyway!!!  Why have custom government copy options if it doesn't print them to PDF????  Also, the government copy (at least for us) is not bookmarked.  I believe Lacerte's was so why is this different since PTO is built on Lacerte programming.  Also there was a setting in Lacerte that you could override this printing to include federal and state copies, etc. rather than the default Lacerte which seems to be the same in PTO in that it just doens't print anything other than the letter b/c the return was efiled.  So please add this checkbox.  It's a pain to print a different version and then remove unneeded pages or to uncheck the efile buttons in the return setup so that it is defaulted to paper filing and then will print what you want.

Estimated Taxes PaymentsNew

With the upcoming mandate of federal taxes having to be paid electronically, there needs to be an option to be able to submit your federal estimates when they are due to pay them electronically. The current ability to have it schedule it with the return is great for people with steady income but what about business owners that have varying income. One year they may need to pay $5,000 in estimated taxes and the next need to pay $50,000. You also would need to have the return filed by 4/15 every year to get the estimates to pull automatically.

Screen 1, New York Information, has a checkbox New York City Return.  This finally triggered the NYC forms to populate. Of course this was in addition to completing additional data needed in Screens 42 to 50 specific to New York State and City.

Share Screen - Representative Support CursorNew

My support call today was great, she was very friendly and helpful.Come to find out, when I shared my screen I found out that her cursor was removed from some recent update on Lacerte's side, bad bad bad idea as that was a super helpful tool. Please bring that back.  The Lacerte rep's want it back, they were surprised when it vanished as it was a good tool.

E-filing a 1st amended and then a 2nd amended return for the same client.New

When e-filing a 2nd 1040-X after the 1st 1040-X, you must go the 1st 1040-X in the E-file Center by opening the tab "ALL" and change the last digit of the SSN/EIN on the 1040 and on the 1st 1040-X. Then when you convert and transmit the 2nd 1040-X, you will not get an ERROR MESSAGE that there are two or more returns with the same SSN/EIN.After the 2nd 1040-X has been accepted by the IRS, you can return to the tab "ALL" and correct the SSN/EIN on the 1040 and 1st 1040-X.
