A customer I spoke to would like if there was a free demo for using hosting. They currently have Lacerte and did look at doing hosting but decided not to because they could not get a free demo/trial.
Currently the software displays an diagnostic message:The taxpayer's 401(k) contributions exceed the $20,500 limit. The excess amount may need to be added to wages. Refer to Form 1040 instructions for more information. The taxpayer's excess 401(k) contributions can be entered in "Excess salary deferrals"which is good. I propose it also display the excess amount, and better yet, add the amount automatic as excess salary deferral.Yes, I can calculate the amount myself but we should automate as much as possible to save time and avoid human error.
I just wasted an hour preparing a tax return in the wrong year. I often have different years of ProSeries software open at the same time. The different years look exactly the same, it is easy to have the wrong year open, and entering information in the wrong year. There is a very simple solution, just change colors of the display from one year to the next. This has happened to me a handful of times. It is frustrating, especially when a very simple, common-sense solution could easily solve this problem.
Individual program gives option to print or not print each city return. S-corp, Partnership, and Corp do not have this feature.
When an individual return request for extension is efiled - there is a Form 9325 that generates with a confirmation # and date. This same form is also populated with confirmation # and date when the individual return is efiled. This would be great to have for 1041 returns as well. We file a 7004 but there isn't a form within the return that prints showing the date/confirmation of the return being extended and that said extension is accepted.
Update Federal and California modules to reflect changes and new laws.Emergency tax relief | FTB.ca.govI realize you told us 3-4 months ago that you wouldn't update the software but it still bothers me and I think hundreds (thousands?) of California tax preparers.
Maybe this isn't a glitch. What do you think?I set the Individual tax return to maximize a Traditional IRA and to maximize a Roth IRA. The TP qualifies for either type.It chooses the Traditional IRA. It doesn't tell me why it chooses the Traditional. There were no notes in Diagnostics and no items in Analysis.
1040-NR Box 1(h) needs to be made available to report non-W-2 based income. That's where this income is reported, so why is that box inaccessible? It should pick up all 1042-S income. We shouldn't be reporting 1042-S income using Schedule 1 in order to have it properly reflect on the 1040-NR?Intuit should consider forming a nonresident alien tax advisory group if there isn't sufficient knowledge about this form.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add a way for us to change the client type, from business to individual and vise versa; this one issue has caused so much frustration for our firm when we have LLCs that file as S-Corps and individuals who need to be billed under seperate accounts in QBO; part of the problem is when you create a new client in QBO it automatically makes it an INDIVIDUAL-type client in ProConnect and THERE'S NO WAY TO CHANGE IT; you can't store an EIN or a company name unless it's a business-type client in PrConnect! Thank you. (Same goes for new QBO client subscriptions, ProConnect makes them individual clients which is no bueno especially for our corporate clients.)
