Question

The new community has arrived

And I haven't been this excited since the last time I pulled off a wood tick that was stuck to me.  After a couple of minutes looking around this place, I feel a little bad that I didn’t get on the bus with the old community when it left town. 😞

I just typed a comment to the Moderator Kathi about paragraph spacing and included a picture.  Does anybody see it, or did it wander off into cyberspace?

I saw the one about gray but not about paragraph spacing .

One more comment to @Kathi_at_Intuit  (and I hope this one doesn’t get lost into cyberspace like my one about paragraph spacing being screwed up):

This appears that people can enter “Code” (when typing a response, click the three dots next to the quotation mark) with the choice of many programming languages.  That seems like a very, very, very, very, very, very BAD idea.  In my opinion, that should NEVER have been put there, and if can be removed, that needs to be removed ASAP.

And here is my re-typing of the paragraph spacing that seems to have got lost into cyberspace:

When I type a long paragraph, it shows the next line of text with ‘normal’ spacing between lines and then when hit “enter” to type a new paragraph, it shows a larger space between lines (such as a line-and-a-half).  That is great and how it should be.

HOWEVER, when I click “Send”, it doesn’t actually show up that way.  As I typing this now, it is VERY clear from the spacing between lines that this is a new paragraph.  But if it shows up the way I think it will, it does NOT actually show up that way after clicking “Send”.

EDIT:  It isn’t letting me most the picture, which is likely why my first post went into cyberspace.

If we need to wait for moderator approval for every picture that we post, that is going to reduce the effectiveness of this forum.

Hey, there’ an option to Quote from another post/reply. But it doesn’t attribute it to the OP. In a thread like this no one will know who is quoted.

I tried to give an example but now I can’t get it to work.

As par for the Intuit course I assume no actual users tested this new format.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m getting dizzy trying to follow the replies on this thread.  With clicking here and clicking there to open up the page to see the various replies, I think I am going to need someone to draw me a road map to successfully drive through this community.  Or maybe I’m getting too old and someone from Intuit should just revoke my license. 😰

“designed to make it easier to connect, collaborate, and engage with fellow members.”  Hmmm, so Intuit says.  Was this new format actually tested with actual community members who use the forum?  Or the tech people said, ‘sure they’ll like this change!  We don’t even need to ask them first.’

Why?  Why change the format in the first place?

    That caught my attention too.

I am curious which specific features the forum-makers think is “easier” about this?

Oh, I think I understand, they coded Threads, the indents. I originally wanted to reply to Bill, but I clicked Reply incorrectly, and made a topic reply, not a reply reply. Didn't we change the last "update" for the same reason, it wanted to do an outline of replies and we couldn't tell who replied when without re-reading the entire post from the beginning every time?

These pictures (if they show up) is what I was referring to about computer programming code.  Maybe I’m wrong, but that seems crazy dangerous to let people set up a program within a reply.

Thanks Bill.  Now that I see we have coding available I am working on adding the mythical 5227 😜

Do we get to edit our replies? I haven’t found that tool. Oh, there it is, but it must time out, because I don’t see it on my older reply.

Looks like if you click on the 3 dots on the upper right side of your post, you have the edit function.  But it also looks like if someone else posts a reply, that feature is gone.  Or maybe it goes away with time.  I tried the edit function on another post I made a couple of minutes ago and the edit function was there.  If I tried on one of my posts above, the edit function doesn’t appear.

I tried some code, it didn’t launch.

Maybe you just didn’t know the correct launch sequence.  But the good news is, you didn’t cause any explosions here because of an unsuccessful launch. 🚀

I know there is a learning curve but if you think you made this more user friendly you did not 😒I can hardly tell the difference between the 2 blue shades either. I feel like I reread the same posts as I can’t figure out what i’ve looked at already or not.
