I own a bookkeeping company, and am a CPA. My mother has the IRS preparer number and prepared taxes using my business. I do assist with review, but she completes all of the e-file and authorizations. This year, the changes in user access made it so the advanced user fee was automatically applied to my account instead of hers, and I had to pay a second fee for her I think this is a mistake in programming. Our firm should be able to have only one advanced user and half the cost. Consider allowing this default to be changed. I was told that the only work around would be to make my mother primary admin, but that doesn't work since tax is actually a smaller portion of our business and she does not handle bookkeeping. I think more flexibility with these setting is warranted.
One of the shareholders in an S-Corp has multiple stock blocks and needs to track basis for each block. Lacerte will not allow me to add a second form 7203 for the same shareholder. K1 items need to be allocated based on stock block percentages and basis needs to be tracked for each block.
Non cash contributions under $500, program is requiring entry of all information; name, address, type, date of contribution, etc. This is not required if under $500. Why is the program requiring this? It has never been this way
I import the w-2 from the "input return", "wages and salaries" tab. when it imports, it does not include NYC withholding. shows federal and NY withholding, just missing NYC withholding. there must be tens of thousands of proconnect clients not getting NYC withholding on their import. it would be great if this can be corrected
Most clients are filing joint so an engagement letter that can only be sent for one signature is not practical.
I like the reminder that there are critical diagnostics while printing. However, it would be nice if the reminder only showed up once instead of multiple times. Regardless of whether I want to print the return anyway or if I want to cancel to fix the issue, it is disruptive to have the message repeatedly pop up after a short interval. It would be nice if my first Ok or Cancel applied to all the outstanding print jobs for that client.
I would like to see an interactive digital organizer that asks questions based on carryover information and the client's responses. Companies like Soraban and Liscio have such products but I would rather get it integrated directly into Lacerte. Ideally the product would automatically update information in Lacerte to cut down manual data entry time.
It took me some time to realize what the issue was since the Software did not prompt this as an error except when EFiling.
We are getting close to 500 returns now with ProConnect and a growing number of joint filers are asking that both taxpayers have the same Link invite be sent them so they can both login individually and complete the organizers on their own time. Can this be done or added?
