Improve Intuit Link Personalized Requests and Add Smart Tax Organizer FeaturesNew

Overall, I've been happy using Intuit Link as my client portal, but there are a number of improvements that would save accountant's a tremendous amount of time, specifically:The personalized Document Checklist leaves out key information that PTO has information for from the prior year tax return. It would be a huge time saver if it helped with obvious, repetitive tasks as detailed below.Implementing a "Smart Tax Organizer" that dynamically adjusts to client's questionnaire Reponses.1. Requests for the following are omitted by Intuit Link in the Document Checklist:Child care expenses andContributions to 529 College Savings Plans.I've had to amend tax returns for missing this information because I was relying on PTO to help me create a personalized Document Checklist and for some reason these items are never included automatically by Intuit.2. I spend a tremendous amount of time at the start of tax season customizing the request in Intuit Link for items that should be automated, including:Removing requests for K-1 statements from partnerships or s-corporations that I will prepare the tax returns for - you could have a checkbox or other field to "exclude from Intuit Link requests" to solve this problemRemoving requests for 1099-INT and 1099-DIV statements from the same brokerage account that issues one consolidated 1099 statement reporting interest income, dividends, and stock sales on one tax document, not two separate 1099-INT and 1099-DIV forms - again you could have a field to "exclude from Intuit Link requests" and a field to request "1099" instead of "1099-INT or 1099-DIV"Customizing engagement letters with (1) fixed fees for tax preparation fees and (b) listing what tax returns that I'm preparing - this could be solved with fields for each client that list the fixed fee and tax returns that I'm preparing (e.g. Personal Income Tax Return and S-Corp tax return for ABC Business LLC) for my client so I can set it once and not need to customize it each year before I can send the Intuit Link invite (or even if I want to change it, it should be pre-filled with the prior year data so I have a convenient reference to save time).3. It would be helpful if Intuit Link acted as a "Smart Tax Organizer" by dynamically adjusting to answers on the questionnaire to request additional information or documents. Specifically, if Intuit Link could implement an "if yes, then request x document or add y question" to questionnaire responses. For example, I could create a question on the questionnaire asking if the client bought or sold a home during the year, if the client answers "yes" then Intuit Link could automatically request a copy of the settlement statement from the purchase or sale of the property in the Document Checklist. This would be useful for a lot of request items (e.g. charitable donations, cryptocurrency income, or various tax documents.) Or it could add a question to the questionnaire, like if they answer "yes" to a question asking whether they moved, it would ask them a follow-up question, like "what's your new address?" or "what date did you move?" Accountants could set up the predictable, "if yes, then request x" behavior just like how we already create the customized questionnaire.

Idea for Intuit to Keep Track of Open IssuesDiscussion ongoing

When we encounter an issue with Proconnect, we contact support. The support team is very proficient at helping with tasks such as where to enter a client's name, address, and social security number. However, more complex issues often need to be escalated and followed up, which currently lacks a proper mechanism.Support will direct us to post on this idea board. However, this board is merely for feedback and no action is taken unless the issue becomes popular. Posts that do not receive 50 votes will be archived. While some issues may be less common, they are critical for those affected and need resolution. When asked to create a case, support agents often respond that they cannot. They also claim they are not tax professionals and do not fully understand the issues. This is puzzling since Proconnect is designed for tax professionals. Shouldn't support for tax professionals have at least the same level of expertise, just like a teacher should know as much as the students in order to teach?Additionally, promises that the development team will follow up by email are often unmet. For example, I have never received a response on conversation 15116234889 and have no visibility into its status, rendering the reference number practically useless, and the issue remains in the limbo. Due to this inadequate support, many of my issues remain unresolved. If you are experiencing the same situation, please vote FOR this idea. Once a post receives 50 votes, it cannot be deleted, so this post can at least serve as a reminder for them. Thank you!

.pdf efile returns AUTOMATICALLY + Standardized logical .pdf naming convention + Efile attachmentsNew

Would anyone like to simplify the process of printing returns?  Ideally, by having an administrative person hit the "print complete return" button and everything happens exactly as the practitioner wants it.It is really really bizarre how difficult the .pdf printing process is.  There are no settings that I am aware of that allows one to print the client copy, the preparer copy, and the government copy such that three separate .pdf files are created and automatically placed where the practitioner directs each of them and named logically so the user can identify what it is they are looking at with a single printing action. Most Lacerte print options will combine these to a single .pdf file. I don't know why anyone would want this but everyone has their own needs.  Lacerte should at least give us an option as to whether we actually want these different versions to be combined or not.The print to .pdf option comes close to the desired result, but there is no predefined location to send the documents to and there can only be one location option per print action. The print to .pdf option DOES create a file name with logical and helpful information (tax year_client #_client name_selected printed copy_entity type) but ONLY if you select multiple items.  Otherwise the file name is generic and ultimately not very helpful.  Don't print twice or reprint though, because you will be prompted with a duplicate file error and it will bog your system down. Also, when a return is electronically filed and accepted, it would be nice that the accepted version be automatically converted and retained for recordkeeping without prompting from the user.  E-file attachments should be appended to the .pdf files.  I am not sure why this still needs to be requested but Lacerte still does not attach e-file attachments to print jobs.  We do not have paper attachments following a paper file around the office anymore.  Everything is electronic so Lacerte should follow through with the mindset that e-file attachments should be attached to all versions of the return.  Electronic and printed. In summary:I would like Lacerte to allow the user to direct .pdf output to default location of choice for each return type, with a naming convention that is logical and helpful and will not produce errors, and have electronically filed returns automatically converted to .pdf for recordkeeping without user intervention for recordkeeping.  Ideally with a single print "complete return" action.Importantly though, I would request that Lacerte append e-file attachments to the .pdf returns.  The e-file attachments are already in .pdf format so this should not be difficult to adopt.
