Currently the 8082 for partnerships are only able to be accessed if the partnership has a passthrough entity so this precludes partnerships which don't from filing the form. This is important for those BBA partnerships that need to amend the return by using the 8082 instead of the 1065-X, such as those that need to for the Employee Retention Tax Credit received. The 8082 is supposed to be used for partnerships that need to amend the 1065 even if they have no passthrough K-1 entity investments per the form instructions, but Lacerte won't allow it as it asks for the passthrough entity's name and EIN causing e-file critical diagnostics. The 8082 input should not be tied to a passthrough entity screen, unless that entity has a passthrough K-1 that needs to be corrected.
Why is there no Two Year Comparison for Michigan Individual Returns?

We would like to be able to filter for the officers of an entity so that when we call or something comes up with them, we know all of the entities that they are connected with. Some clients have 5 entities and it would be nice to be able to export all officers and their respective entities to a list. This would either involve fields linked to Treasurer, Secretary and president or Officer 1, Officer 2 . . . or the easiest is signing officer name. Now we are having to go through and put this list one by one in excel . . .
Years ago (could be the DOS days), Lacerte allowed users to set up standard paragraphs under codes [MISC1] and [MISC2], and when the code is placed in the custom client letter, the pre-set, standard paragraphs would be pulled onto the letter. Then, the custom client letter capability got expanded. User can now set up multiple letters, and MISC1 and MISC2 can be set up as a note (Screen 47) for a particular client. For Example, I have special instructions for clients who file Form 114. The instructions are standard. I have to save the standard instructions on a special WORD file, and copy and paste on the client's Note (Screen 47). But then, the placement on the letter is limited. (Below the salutation for Misc1 and before the sayonara for Misc2). Another issue is that I have multiple Client letters (Pape file; EFile with check payment; EFile with electronic ES payments.... Yes, I got carried), and to expand them into WITH 114 and WITHOUT 114 would be a pain in the tax season. So, I hereby suggest Lacerte to bring back ALSO the old [Misc1] and [Misc2] concept, and allow users to set up and define global paragraphs that can be pulled into the custom client letter.
2022 Organizers produced from the 2021 tax program during mid-December are rife with errors, including:Interest/Dividend descriptions - not included where duplicate names existState Tax Refund - amount produced is the Organizer is the 2020 state tax refundAlimony Paid - prior year amounts not printed on Organizer (huge issue, as this is easy to miss)Other Property Taxes - descriptions and prior-year amounts did not printMiscellaneous Deductions - descriptions and prior-year amounts did not printWe have been left to find these errors on our owns. To our knowledge, Lacerte users have not been notified of the botched Organizers. On top of the lack of transparency for Intuit's failure, we have asked on several occasions for a full list of the errors, which has not been provided. We are left to find them on our own.We have been informed that many of these errors were fixed in January. Our Organizers were printed in mid-December for our customary mailing between Christmas and New Years Day. For us, the fixes do not solve our issue.Clients are questioning why prior-year amounts and descriptions are not printed, while erroneous amounts are printed. We have a credibility and confidence issue with clients, who we are now asking to "trust us, the tax software that produced these errors will correctly produce your tax returns" and left to explain why we sent the error-filled Organizers. It is time-consuming and frustrating. In addition to requiring more time and attention to such matters, the possibility for creating tax returns with errors is significantly greater.
Does anyone know if Lacerte will be updating the client letters to reflect the May 15 vs. April 18 date for remitting payments in CA counties affected by the storms. If the software cannot look to the country (which is input from a drop down table) to determine if in an included county - maybe we could check a box? Virtually the entire state and all my clients fall into this category and hope will not be manually updating every letter this season.
Rejection code on Form 990-PF. Called Lacerte and told to call IRS. Called IRS and told to call Lacerte. Cannot get any help from Lacerte on issue!
It would be nice if Lacerte s-corp module could support the estimated tax payment vouchers for Colorado, form DR0106EP.
