Notes are going away... Now we have to have permanent Comments

I agree with the above statements.  The NOTES feature was a critical part of my firm's workflow and changing it was an unpleasant surprise this year.  However, I can work with the Comments feature as long as the following adjustments are made:

1. Comments rollover to the next year
2. Comments can be edited by individuals other than the author
3. Comments can be deleted when needed

For ProConnect developers... Here is an example of how my team has been using Notes over the years.  Each year a team member leaves a note when needed (designated by their initials) of either an unresolved item or something that needs to be noted for everyone to be aware of.  Whoever resolves the item marks DONE in front of it and puts their comments/answer in [Brackets]...

PERM NOTES:

JM - Taxpayer divorced and then remarried in 2022.  Prefers that we send all info to work email.

2025 NOTES:

JM - need to confirm whether trad IRA dist of 9K was rolled over into Roth?

2024 NOTES:

DZ - DONE Possibly missing 1099-SA [JM - N/A for 2024]

2023 NOTES:

DZ - DONE Please verify American Stock Transfer 1099-DIV input.  [JM - Verified]

2022 NOTES:

DZ - DONE Missing Spouse DL  [TB - entered]

TB - NOTE Taxpayer's license expired 3/6/23 according to ProConnect

JM - DONE Client has requested a married filing joint vs. separate analysis [JM - completed]

2021 NOTES:

JM - DONE may need to prorate Taxpayer's HSA maximum contribution eligibility and he may need to withdraw some of his contributions if he officially signed up for Medicare. [JM - proration for 2021 does not appear to be necessary]

This simple system is critical to our current year workflow and critical for data retention of important info from prior years.  As you can see, the ability to edit other's comments is imperative and notes from prior years are extremely useful.  Please make the above changes and thank you for reviewing my comment.
