Who exactly qualifies for abode?

I have read part A in Schedule 8812 and am still a bit confused. Does this mean that any client who has lived in the US for all 2021 qualifies? Or is this only for clients who travel to different countries and earn foreign income? So confused. 😭

Really?? Ok this question on Proseries ties it back to the actual 3000, 3600 for a full refund. If I donr check yes for the abode question it leaves the ctc as 1400 only. Just want to make sure I'm not adding a credit they might be in trouble for later.  So confusing when you read the actual meaning for abode. Thank you!!!

*Sorry I meant If I click no for abode it leaves the credit for 1400 per child. If I click yes it leave the 3000 per child refundable.

Read the instructions for the top part, for Simplified refundable child tax credit.

    https://www.irs.gov/instructions/i1040s8

And read the part for "abode:"

This means your main home was in the 50 states or the District of Columbia for more than one-half of 2021. Your main home can be any location where you regularly live. Your main home may be your house, apartment, mobile home, shelter, temporary lodging, or other location and doesn’t need to be the same physical location throughout the tax year.

There are a lot of resources on the web, and those meant for the tax payer are often written differently than the IRS info.
