Special circumstances regarding ownership of two primary houses in the same year

Clients of mine divorced and remarried each other in the same year. Each resided in their respective homes for part of that year. The wife for the entire year. Can the second home's deductible expenses be claimed on schedule A? Both homes are still owned by the couple.

Are their any other tax laws pertaining to situation?

I  know this sounds like a middle school math homework question but...

If it was a middle school homework question, it would have started with if a "train leaves from Chicago".  The taxes and interest would be deductible.
