Script Dividend ADR Issuance

Banco Santander issued a Script Dividend ADR Issuance worth share price of $2.92 on 12/14/2020.  Is this $2.92 per share taxable as dividend income in 2020, or is this $2.92 cost basis of the issues ADRs?

It sounds like the equivalent of a stock dividend. You now have more shares with the same original total basis.

Ex. You had 100 ADRS with cost basis of $1,000.

Now you have 1,025 ADRS with cost basis of $1,000.

 

Check the investor information section of their website. It probably has tax info.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
