IRS sent incorrect 1040 tax data to State of IL. How to fix?
Client received notice from the State of IL showing that the IRS shows they made $100,000 more income than reported on the IL return. This information the IRS shared is incorrect. The IRS accepted the Fed 1040 with the correct numbers but sent incorrect numbers to the State of IL. We have been working on this issue for 6 months and are caught in a loop between departments saying they cannot help.
Has anyone experienced this and or have guidance on where or what to do?
