IRS Not cashing checks for taxes due

The IRS has not cashed check for personal 1040 return 2019 mailed on July 14, 2020. Is there a  backlog due to the Covid19 crisis?  Has anyone had a similar experience?

    Yes, they haven't been opening envelopes with checks for months. They are slowly catching up.

    Any assessed penalties and interest should go away after they get up to date.

        Im just hoping all these people still have the money in the account to cover the check when it finally clears!
