Has anyone had an issue with IRS sending a letter to your client that line 1 of the 1040 wages does not match with their records due to box 11?  Lacerte subtracts that amount from wages, reports it on Schedule 1 line 8t (which seems to be correct per IRS instructions).  Then that amount flows to line 8.

I'm not sure why IRS is not matching that amount with line 8 of the 1040.

    Did you get a notice?

Though the return is correct the IRS computer only sees reduced wages and it does not automatically match that reduction with Schedule 1-line 8t.

You could respond with a call or a letter.  Provide a copy of the W-2 showing Box 1 and Box 11.  Provide the portion of the return showing: Schedule 1, line 8t, Form 1040, line 8.  Explain that box 11 amounts are not wages under IRS W-2 instructions and were properly reported on Schedule 1.
