Hi there,

I have a client who's a W2 employee in Colorado, a mortgage lender, can she write off her training courses?

Thank you,

Jaime

Sure she can write it off, she just can't deduct it for federal tax purposes.  However, it might work for state purposes depending on how your state looks at miscellaneous itemized deductions.

If she takes her training at a local collage or tech school that participates in student loans, she may be eligible for the life time learning credit.
