When a minor child receives a W-2 for a summer or part-time job that is far below the filing requirement. Can that W-2 be filed as a part of the return on which the child is reported as a dependent or does the child need to file a completely separate tax return from their parents?

Earned income goes on the childs own return, assuming he has a filing requirement, or wants to get withholding refunded.

You need to file on the kid's return, but if they are under the filing requirement, you only need to file if there is a refund coming back.
