Can you deduct medical bills you paid for an independent contractor that got hurt working for you?

If you have a farm and had someone helping you as an independent contractor and they got hurt and your place insurance only paid a little and you paid the rest of his medical bills, can you deduct that cost?

    If the farm is a business I would consider this a business expense.

    The more I know the more I don’t know.
