April 15 Deadline Speculation

AICPA, NAEA, and other tax professional organizations, as well as Congress continue to appeal to IRS commissioner Rettig to include 2021 estimates and other than 1040 filings in the May 17th extension and yet there doesn't seem to be any response.

Anybody else out there think we'll see an announcement granting penalty relief a day or so after April 15th?

      They are going to buckle to pressure at some point, it's just a matter of when.

        How much trouble is it, really, to file an extension for 1041s?

        How much is the ES penalty on $10,000 for a month at 3% per annum?  Not enough to get anyone past the $100 cutoff where IRS ignores it anyway.  

        Half a million Covid deaths in a year, and some people are crying about what?
