Why we can not get $600 tax credit for Exterior windows and skylights that meet Energy Star Most Efficient

Hi,

I try to get the $600 tax credit for Exterior windows and skylights that meet Energy Star Most Efficient but the software not get the credit on tax form 5695. Is there anyone have the same problem?

Works for me, be sure your software is updated, 5695 had an update yesterday.

I prepared one over the weekend and it worked just fine for me too.  Like any other form though you just need to make sure it is completed properly with the appropriate boxes checked.

the last update made it kind of fool proof, it might even light up too many checkboxes now.

Yes Lisa, I noticed that too.  Now you have to hit some checkboxes in a section you aren't even using.

Just a note for reference: "that meet Energy Star Most Efficient"

Energy Star is not part of tax code. Energy Star might be used by manufacturers and power company suppliers for purposes of credits, rebates, rate reductions. That is not by definition the standard used in the tax regulations.
