Question

Why is 'PS Basic 50 Returns...' charging me $53 for my first 2022 Form 1040?

This is a ProSeries PRODUCT (not income tax) question...

I purchased "PS Basic 50 Returns + 2 States" for the current tax season (2022 Forms 1040, etc).

When I tried to print a client's 2022 Form 1040 (#1 of 50), the program requested a payment ($53 processing fee).

First, make sure youre using Basic and not Professional.  Basic users are allowed to download and use Professional on a Pay Per Return basis (you need Pro for business entity returns), so if you downloaded and installed Pro instead of Basic, youd be asked to Pay Per Return.

If your toolbar looks like this, youre using Pro

If your toolbar looks different than above, try updating your product licensing  Tools > License Product

If that doesnt help either, you'll be stuck contacting phone support.

Hi Lisa -

I've downloaded/ installed 2022 Pro (toolbar matches the picture in your 1st message).  This is the first year that I'm using Basic (after 15+ yrs w/ Pro), so I'm not aware of the difference in appearance, etc.

Per the 'License' window (in 2022 Pro), I have licenses for 2022 Basic & Fast Path.  Kinda confusing...

SO... I'll check out the Intuit website for a download of Basic.

I'll keep you posted - thank you!    S
